Greater Cambridge is one of the fastest-growing housing areas in the UK, driven by its strong economic growth, particularly in the technology, science, and innovation sectors. The region has become a hub for high-tech industries and startups (especially in the biomedical sciences). The Greater Cambridge Shared Waste Service (GCSWS) is a joint venture between South Cambridgeshire District Council and Cambridge City Council. The Commercial Waste business is a key part of the service, serving more than 2,000 customers in the Greater Cambridge area, including SMEs, schools, colleges, universities, pubs, restaurants, multi-site industries, research organisations and other commercial enterprises.
