Consultant in Microbiology and Infectious Diseases

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

An opportunity has arisen for a joint microbiology and infectious disease consultant in NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. This is a permanent position that would lead to development of a joint clinical and laboratory service in line with the future requirements of both specialties. The post-holder is expected to provide a laboratory service which includes clinical advice, laboratory oversight, report authorisation, diagnostic and antimicrobial advice and stewardship alongside ward based clinical management of patients with infection. Applicants should hold a CCT in microbiology and infectious diseases.
