We are currently recruiting for a CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist position in the Canterbury CAMHS Community Team. This is a replacement, substantive, full-time post - 10 PAs with 7.5 PA DCC and 2.5 SPA.

You will join another full-time CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist and a 0.5wte Specialty Doctor within the service.

Job responsibilities

You will be expected to:

  1. Work as part of multidisciplinary teams providing care to children and young people with mental health needs.
  2. Provide senior medical support and guidance to the team.
  3. Work directly with young people and their families and liaise with other external CAMHS mental health providers and acute hospitals.
  4. Participate in the on-call rota (frequency is currently 1:14, with a 3% of basic salary, Category A on-call supplement).
  5. Support your peers and team leader, and be an effective team member.
  6. Commit to collaborative working, actively supporting and liaising with other health and social professionals and agencies.

  3. Essential understanding of current developments in mental health care.

Qualifications
  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practice.
  • CCT or equivalent.
  • Section 12 Approval or eligibility for it.
  • Approved Clinician status, or eligibility for it.
  • Inclusion in, or eligibility for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining CCST.
Clinical Experience
  • Mastery in the management of a broad range of mental disorders under children including neurodevelopment disorders.
  • Experience in managing patients from different cultural backgrounds.
Knowledge
  • Extensive knowledge of the biological, psychological, and social determinants of mental health disorders.
  • Up to date knowledge of recent DH documentation and NICE Guidelines.
Clinical Skills
  • Excellent clinical and communication skills, both verbally and written.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of theoretical and clinical approaches.
