The Role

As Data Compliance Specialist, the successful post holder will be responsible for delivering PureGym's data compliance program across the organization.

You will deliver this program in close collaboration with the Head of Data and Consumer Compliance, and other skilled colleagues across our IT, Marketing and Operations teams, so that together you succeed with our ambitions to ensure a robust and compliant data program.

The Data & Consumer Compliance team play an important role in the organisation, being a business partner and providing support to each of our operating markets and central teams. The team provide expertise to ensure that the business is protected and remains compliant in all practices whilst remaining agile and being able to operate and make risk-based commercial decisions.

Responsibilities within this role include:

  • Delivery of the data compliance program: Perform tasks in the annual data compliance program and plan, including updating and revising documentation.
  • Data subject requests: Assist with data subject access requests and complaints across the different markets.
  • Supervision and control: Conduct regular assessments to monitor and document data compliance, including inspections of data processors and suppliers, and our internal processes and procedures. Perform planned spot checks and controls within the organization, and report on compliance issues.
  • Assisting your colleagues: Support system owners and other responsible parties in fulfilling their tasks and responsibilities and provide advice and guidance on data protection and security.
  • Develop policies and procedures: Continually update and develop data protection guidelines, policies, and procedures that ensure a high standard of compliance within the organization.
  • Training and awareness: Continue to educate our colleagues on data compliance-related topics and ensure ongoing awareness through the development of training, updates, and materials.
  • Manage a data compliance system: Own the implementation and ongoing management of a data compliance system.

The Person

  • Have demonstrable experience and knowledge within data compliance delivery from a similar position.
  • Are proactive and can work independently and structured.
  • Are collaborative and dialogue-oriented with a can-do attitude.
  • Excellent project management skills, well organized and a practical problem solver with a keen attention to detail.
  • Have a positive and appreciative approach to your stakeholders.
  • Able to create compliance but still support the business needs.
  • Educational background is desirable, but it is a prerequisite that you have experience working with data compliance in the UK and Europe.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and communication skills, with experience working cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experienced in building strong & credible relationships with a wide stakeholder group.
  • A dedicated and hard-working team player with high energy, and who communicates effectively and works collaboratively.
  • Disciplined, is calm under pressure, and thrives working at pace.
  • High-performer with high standards and work ethics, and continually challenges themselves.
  • Strong diligence, prioritization, and organizational skills, and is an initiative taker.
  • Lives and breathes our values in everything they do.
  • Hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days a week in the office and willingness to travel internationally as required.
