A Band 6 Deputy Sister's post has become available in our busy diagnostic suite and outpatient departments. If you want to work within a supportive and challenging environment assisting the doctors to provide care for women with a wide range of gynaecological conditions then this could be the position for you.

You will be expected to work as part of a team in order to assist the doctors with diagnostic procedures and facilitate the efficient running of clinics. You will be required to assist in the running of specialised clinics such as our 2-week wait hysteroscopy, vulval and pelvic mass clinics, our colposcopy clinics supporting clinicians carry out treatments following abnormal smears, and our general gynaecology clinics that include urogynaecology and endometriosis clinics. This role covers a wide variety of services within women's health. You will be part of the nursing team to support the department sister in the running of the unit. You will assist in the maintenance of the patient environment in terms of cleanliness, tidiness, auditing, and the restocking and ordering of supplies. You will also support our Pre-op assessment nurses to carry out assessments on our patients that fit certain criteria following outpatient hysteroscopy being booked for general anaesthetic.

Main duties of the job

This post is for 37.5 hours per week generally Monday - Friday working hours but there will be an expectation to work occasional weekend and evening clinics. The post holder will need to be flexible as days of work will be arranged depending on the needs of the service. Previous gynaecological experience would be an advantage; however, training will be given to the successful candidate.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Be professionally accountable for assessment of the patients' needs, and the development, implementation and evaluation of planned care, demonstrating a collaborative approach through effective communication and decision-making between the multi-professional team, patients and significant others.

Demonstrate expert knowledge and skills in the management of the changing healthcare needs of the patient, responding to changes promptly and appropriately and developing specialised plans of care/ following relevant protocols in collaboration with other senior nurses/medical staff.
