Your new role
Your new role as a Mechanical Design Engineer will see you joining a dedicated design team, where you will play a crucial role in the daily functions of the trailer design department. You will work closely with sales and production teams to ensure the feasibility and production requirements are met efficiently. Your responsibilities will include preparing drawings, specifications, and technical requirements for customers, sales, and production, ensuring they are fit for purpose and easily understood. You will certify specifications received from the sales department, make necessary changes in line with the current specification change system, and assist with costing and development of new products. Additionally, you will contribute to the implementation of new software, improve production techniques, and ensure all functional checks are completed prior to delivery. Your role will also involve liaising with production managers to ensure quality and on-time delivery, assisting with material management issues, and ensuring compliance with legislative applications.

What you'll need to succeed
What you'll need to succeed is an undergraduate degree with a 2:1 or above in a relevant discipline, along with GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or above (or equivalent). You should have previous experience with 3D SolidWorks Modelling, project management, and heavy engineering. Experience in 3D CAD, quality systems, and knowledge of relevant legislative requirements are essential. Desirable qualifications include a 2:2 or above in Engineering, trailer knowledge/experience, and familiarity with Sigma Nest software.
