Chelsea and Westminster Hospital (based primarily at Chelsea but may be required to work at West Middlesex site)
The post holder will be a clearly identifiable senior clinical staff member with significant clinical experience, providing sound clinical expertise to their team and more junior staff, coordinating and delivering high-quality care. They will be a role model for expert clinical care, leading on specific projects/service developments in support of the dietetic HIV service and management functions as delegated by the Band 8 Clinical Lead Dietitian. They will embody the identified Trust values at all times.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will be responsible for:
- Being professionally and legally responsible for all aspects of work, including the management of patients in their care.
- Carrying and prioritising their own designated clinical caseload, working as an autonomous practitioner without direct supervision.
- Monitoring caseloads of other staff when deputising for the Band 8 during short periods of leave.
- Taking responsibility for certain patient conditions or clinical areas, as delegated by the Band 8, and developing specialised assessment and treatment skills in these areas.
- Providing sound evidence-based clinical advice as required to staff and patients.

Person Specification- HCPC registration
- Relevant post-registration experience at Band 6 level in core areas
- Experience in line management and able to be deputised to department management
- Wide variety of clinical experience in TPN, HIV, and gastroenterology
- Experience of working as part of the MDT in clinical practice
- The ability to clinically reason the application of appropriate assessment and treatment techniques in a variety of clinical settings
- Identifies challenges of working in varying hospital settings and demonstrates the ability to adapt own practice accordingly
- Member of a special interest group
- Experience as a qualified dietitian in specialist areas
- ICU cover/understanding of treatment protocols for complex patients
- Experience of working with people with eating disorders
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such, it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
