Job Description

Position Title: Content Designer - Public Sector Communications

Location: Manchester/Bristol/London 3 days on-site - Contract up until 31/03/25

Role Responsibilities:
As a Content Designer, you'll join a dedicated Communications Team responsible for clear and impactful communication with a broad range of stakeholders. You'll play a vital role in managing and improving content on GOV.UK, ensuring it meets user needs and accessibility standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Publishing and maintaining high-quality, accessible content on GOV.UK.
  • Managing and prioritising requests from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborating on content strategies with a focus on enhancing user journeys.
  • Ensuring content meets accessibility guidelines and advising colleagues on best practices.
  • Supporting policy colleagues in developing accessible content.
  • Using performance data to monitor content effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Adapting to and managing changing deadlines and priorities.

Skills and Requirements:
To excel in this role, you will need:

  • Proven experience in digital content creation, ideally within a public-facing environment.
  • Proficiency in content management systems, with knowledge of Whitehall Publisher being advantageous.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail and a focus on accessibility.
  • Ability to use metrics and user feedback to define and enhance content quality.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • A proactive approach to managing quality services, implementing improvements, and simplifying processes.
  • Adaptability to work within a fast-paced environment and embrace change.
