Job Description

About the role

Our Zellis business is at the start of a refreshed 5 Year Plan, which sets out to double our revenue and EBITDAC. In order to deliver on this plan, we have some ambitious initiatives to deliver in order to strengthen our capability and, in turn, strengthen our market position.

A significant amount of the transformational activity that underpins our 5 Year Plan begins in our Product and Technology (P&T) function. P&T covers a wide range of products and technology investments of the company. P&T plans, builds, deploys, operates and monitors the company's portfolio of software applications, whether they are on-premise or in the cloud. It also owns the internal IT of the business, whether it's the infrastructure supporting the SaaS services, or the internal IT that colleagues do their daily work on. P&T is also responsible for the overall business security, business continuity and disaster recovery. Both the breadth and depth of activity in this part of our business is significant.

Reporting to the Chief Product & Technology Officer, this role will be responsible for:

  1. Managing the key projects or programmes for Zellis that are led out of the P&T business unit that underpin the 5 Year Plan. This includes developing success measures and leading on the planning the key programmes end-to-end. This role will manage the risks, issues and dependencies and will help with the preparation and management of key stakeholder forums. These programmes could range from a major new product launch, a significant change to an existing product and/or business process or major network/infrastructure or other similar change that has cross-functional impacts to manage.
  2. Planning and managing all operational activities of the P&T function. This role will operate as the right hand to the CPTO, providing detailed plans and driving practices such as Agile, Devops and Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CICD) methodologies working closely with other leadership team members.
  3. Developing and owning the P&T governance framework to indicate who is accountable for what and how decisions get made and communicated across the function. This includes the full range of activities from leadership meetings to demos, release reviews and shiprooms, ensuring that there are clear areas of focus and ownership across the team.
  4. Collating and owning the Management Business Reports for the CPTO and P&T leadership team to present monthly to the Zellis Exec leadership and support occasional board packs production for reporting to shareholders.
  5. Managing and providing programme direction to a team of project managers owning projects and other smaller scale changes within the team.
  6. Developing standardised reporting and dashboards within and cross division, including KPIs, OKRs, to allow greater insight into functional performance.

This role is a senior leadership role within the P&T leadership team, which is highly visible both across the wider P&T function and the overall Zellis Business Unit as a whole.

This role will ideally work on a hybrid basis (2 days per week) from our Peterborough, Bristol or Birmingham office.

Skills & experience

  1. Experience leading complex transformation projects/programmes with multiple workstreams.
  2. Excellent stakeholder management and client relationship building skills at all levels up to and including board level, to ensure you can deliver projects in accordance with the company's defined methodology, governance, and success criteria.
  3. Experience in working with and / or managing software development teams, especially in SaaS / Agile delivery.
  4. Good understanding and experience of developing and tracking against KPIs and levers for operational performance; experience of OKR would be beneficial.
  5. Excellent communication skills, being able to communicate clearly with different levels in the business, from team level to the exec members, CEO and the board.
  6. Capable of conveying complex concepts in simple terms and of tailoring presentation style of delivery to suit the audience.
  7. Excellent attention to detail and ability to instil accountability for actions within a matrix operating model.
  8. Excellent organisational skills, ensuring actions are taken, followed up and progressed across the leadership team.
  9. Utilisation of technology solutions to facilitate collaborative working.
  10. Outstanding inter-personal skills, being able to work across functional boundaries, giving confidence to leaders of the situation and progress of critical projects and programmes.
