Job Description
ECONOMICS TEACHER

We are recruiting a qualified Economics Teacher on behalf of a school for boys based in Surrey.The role is for a January start, however the school would like the ideal candidate to begin induction ASAP.You will teach Economics up to A-Level, and Maths up to GCSE level. There is also an opportunity for the right candidate to develop into a head of department role.Salary: up to £58k.Days: Between 160 and 170 days (TBC).Parking is available on site.As an Economics Teacher you will be responsible for the below:

  • Offer imaginative and well-structured lessons across the age and ability range.
  • Monitor and record students' progress in accordance with departmental and school policies.
  • Attend and contribute to the weekly departmental meetings.
  • Contribute to the development of departmental resources.
  • Keep an oversight of the work and progress of pupils, especially those who demonstrate potential or have specific learning needs.
  • Be keen to develop through INSET and CPD programmes.
  • Be active in exploring innovative ways of delivering ICT through Economics and Maths and in promoting independent learning.
  • Be available to assist students outside of lesson time and be willing to contribute to Economics and Maths clinics etc.
  • Review and analyse own teaching performance, working closely with the other members of the department.
  • Evaluate results in public examinations and feed back to the SLT.
  • To get involved in and organise extracurricular or after-school activities.
  • To assist in reviewing syllabi proposed by Awarding Bodies and ensure curriculum matches.
  • To develop schemes of work within the framework of the school and the requirements of examination boards, working collaboratively with the Examination Officers' team.
  • To prepare teaching resources in collaboration with the members of the department.

  • The successful candidate will have:
  • Good honours degree
  • QTS or PGCE or equivalent
  • Ability to teach Economics to A-Level
  • Ability to teach Maths up to GCSE Level
  • Evidence of excellent public examination results
  • Effective communication skills with an infectious enthusiasm for the subject
