Job Description
Ihr ArbeitsplatzThe Institute of Micro- and Nanostructure Research (IMN) at the Department of Materials Science is active in the field of nanomaterials research, using a variety of electron and X-ray microscopy methods. The IMN operates and uses various high-performance microscopes in the field of transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and X-ray microscopy as well as a well-equipped laboratory for sample preparation. These devices and equipment are part of the Center for Nanoanalysis and Electron Microscopy (CENEM) at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU), an established competence center and user facility for electron microscopy and nanoanalytics at FAU.Ihre Aufgaben
- Preparation and analysis of electron microscopic samples using a scanning electron microscope
- with integrated focused ion beam system (FIB-SEM)
- Responsibility for and use of equipment for scanning electron microscopy (SEM and FIB-SEM)
- Collaboration in scientific projects and independent processing of customer orders
- Technical support and maintenance of various laboratory equipment (e.g. thin-film systems, laser ablation system, furnaces, glovebox), including problem analysis and carrying out repair and maintenance work
- Completed vocational training as a technician or technical assistant or completed university studies (Bachelor / Diploma FH ) in the field of materials testing or technology, mechatronics, electrical engineering or comparable qualification with a relevant working experience
- Professional experience in the technical support of laboratory equipment
- Professional experience in the field of electron microscopy
- Knowledge in the field of electron microscopy, desirable in the preparation of electron microscopic samples
- Professional experience related to electrics, mechatronics or electrical engineering
- Excellent knowledge of German (mind. C1-Niveau) and good knowledge of Englisch (mind. B2-Niveau)
- High degree of initiative, independence and a structured, precise way of working
- Enjoy teamwork in a scientific environment and enthusiasm for precise, fine motor work in sample preparation
- Regular promotion to the next level and increase in salary pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement for the public service of the German Länder (TV-L) or remuneration pursuant to the Bavarian Public Servants Remuneration Act (BayBesG) plus an additional annual bonus
- 30 days annual leave at five working days per week with additional free days on December 24 and 31
