Embedded Software Engineer - ENG079

Embedded Software Engineers are responsible for the architecture, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of the embedded software used to manage and control ALL.SPACE's terminal products. This includes embedded real-time terminal control software, web interfaces, and REST API interfaces. The software engineer will work as part of an Agile development team delivering features against a release roadmap to meet the product requirements.

ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Perform requirements analysis - working with internal and external stakeholders to understand the technical functionality required to meet customer needs.
2. Complete architecture and design documentation for new software features.
3. Deliver high-quality, tested software features for an embedded real-time system, using C++.
4. Implement automated unit and integration tests.
5. Test and debug functionality in simulation and on target hardware.
6. Contribute to the investigation and timely resolution of software issues.
7. Employ design patterns and practices to ensure appropriate quality, security, modifiability, and extensibility.
8. Work within the team's Agile framework, contributing to best practice.
9. Experienced in C++ development on embedded systems.
10. Demonstrated success in delivery of reliable, real-time embedded functionality.
11. Full lifecycle development experience - design, develop, test, maintain.
12. Experience of Linux and FreeRTOS operating system competence.
13. Good understanding of physical interfaces such as Serial, Ethernet, SPI, CAN, etc.
14. On hardware debugging and performance characterisation.
15. Understanding of Source Code Management (git) and CI/CD pipelines.
16. Generation of appropriate documentation (Jira, Confluence).
17. Perform peer reviews and tests of other developers' work.
18. Effective collaboration in a high-pace agile team.
19. Good self-organizational skills and attention to detail.
20. Problem-solver and collaborative team member.

Additional Notes

• Due to the need to control and debug on target hardware, this role requires working at ALL.SPACE's Reading sites. Could be hybrid role, working on-site some of the time.
