Hays Education is working with a local Cheltenham Secondary School & Sixth Form to recruit a Teacher of English on a full-time permanent basis. The co-educational mainstream school has been rated 'Good' in all areas by OFSTED. Staff well-being is paramount within the school and the senior leadership team take great pride in the strong sense of community felt by staff and pupils alike.

Your new role
As a Teacher of English, you will work within a close-knit department of 16 teachers, teaching KS3. KS4 & KS5 students. Your responsibilities will include:

• The delivery of the curriculum to assigned classes
• Contributing to the preparation and development of teaching materials
• Accountable for planning and differentiating teaching based on students' abilities and needs.
• Monitor student progress through assessments
• Setting homework and planning other out-of-hours activities
• Contribute to the arrangements for examinations and assessments
• Management of classroom behaviour
• Carry out the role of form tutor

What you'll need to succeed

• Degree in English
  
• Qualified Teacher Status
  
• A passion for English and for teaching
  
• Understanding of the needs of pupils across the ability range
