Job Description

Salary scale: £100,000-£120,000 per annum

Currently, we are seeking a Finance Director (FD) who will be part of the Core Services leadership team, reporting to the Chief Financial and Operating Officer (CFOO). The post holder will manage and lead the finance, settlement, and Information Technology (IT) teams to provide all financial, accounting, settlement, and IT services to RDG and members. The role is expected to deputise for the CFOO when required.

This role is a permanent member of the Finance, Risk, Audit, and Compliance Committee (FRACC), providing guidance and support to the Chair. The role also supports other RDG member committees and Boards.

The role will consistently provide leadership of reliable and efficient common services to RDG in the most optimised and cost-effective manner, setting quality and professional standards and managing delivery within their area of specialism.

Providing subject matter expertise for Finance and Settlement across the organisation, including supporting policy setting and compliance arrangements.

The FD will be responsible for:

  1. Group Finance
  2. Transactional processing and control teams (Credit control, AR & AP)
  3. Treasury function
  4. Financial Systems and Processes
  5. Settlement Team
  6. IT
  7. Payroll
  8. Finance Business Partners

The Ideal Person will be:

  • Able to operate with and have the confidence and buy-in of the senior leaders of the organisation. The post requires strong interpersonal skills in order that the post holder can motivate, negotiate, influence, and build strong relationships with all levels of staff internally within the Organisation.
  • Professionally qualified with a relevant degree/postgraduate qualification, relevant managerial and leadership experience, and substantial subject matter expertise and proven success in financial & management accounting roles.

It is essential that the Ideal Person will be able to demonstrate experience or competence of:

  • Specialist knowledge of UK legal and business requirements of financial control, management accounting & reporting
  • Highly developed knowledge of the principles and practice of own field of work with awareness of the broader developments relevant to own functional area
  • Demonstrable experience of presenting to and/or managing committees and Boards
  • Significant relevant management and leadership experience with proven success in a strategically important specialist area
  • Significant experience of managing and developing a team of experienced professionals or complex projects influencing the organisation
  • Direct managerial track record with demonstrable skills such as coaching, motivation, and managing performance
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving capability

It is desirable that the Ideal Person will be able to demonstrate experience or competence of:

  • Significant experience of delivering large programmes/projects
