What is the role?

The Finance Director plays a key role in providing financial leadership and ensuring the business runs smoothly from a financial perspective. Reporting to the CFO, the Finance Director will oversee teams in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Treasury, Financial Control and Credit Risk Management, making sure that financial reports are accurate, capital is well-managed, and financial planning and commercial insight is aligned with business growth.

This role is crucial in providing the insights and control necessary for the company's success and ultimately becoming the successor to the CFO.

What will you be doing day to day?

Financial Planning + Analysis:

  • Lead the development and management of the annual budget and quarterly reforecasts; reconcile top down/bottom up approach.
  • Lead the development, appraisal and sign off of commercial investments with a focus on ROI.
  • Track and analyze the financial performance of the business, providing regular insights and reports.
  • Define, monitor, and report key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to guide business decision-making.

Treasury Management:

  • Liquidity Management: Ensure the company has adequate liquidity to meet operational and regulatory needs.
  • Capital Allocation: Oversee the efficient allocation of capital to support growth initiatives.
  • Regulatory Capital Monitoring: Ensure that the group adheres to its minimum regulatory working capital requirements.
  • Safeguarding: Ensure that the firm adheres to its safeguarding obligations.
  • Banking Relationships: Oversee relationships with financial institutions.

Financial Control:

  • Financial Reporting: Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance: Implement and monitor internal financial controls.
  • Audit Management: Oversee internal and external audits.
  • Tax Compliance: Manage tax reporting and compliance activities.

M&A:

  • Due Diligence: Provide support through initial M&A discussions.
  • Post-Merger Integration: Lead or support the financial integration of acquired companies.

Team Leadership:

  • Team Lead: Nurture the talent in the team.
  • Development: Ensure each team member has a personal development plan.

What experience do you need to be successful in the role?

  • Extensive financial leadership experience within the financial services or foreign exchange sectors.
  • Deep understanding of Regulatory environment with experience in managing regulatory capital.
  • Proven track record of managing high performing teams.
  • Experience of core finance functions - FP&A, Financial Control and Tax Management.
  • Strong understanding of Treasury.
  • M&A experience, particularly in valuing a deal and conducting due diligence.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships with senior stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with foreign exchange broker business model.
  • Collaborative leadership style.
