The Role:

The objective of the Financial Crime Enhancement Programme (FCEP) Programme Director is to play a key role in the execution and delivery of the Financial Crime Enhancement Programme. Reporting to the Global Head of Anti Financial Crime and Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO), this role is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of the key activity across the programme. The Financial Crime Enhancement Programme has been established to:

  • Analyse the full findings from an EY review completed in 2023.
  • Seek independent expertise to develop a 'fit for future' Financial Crime operating model and complete a current state assessment ('CSA').
  • Oversee the delivery of all material activity identified as a result of the above.

The role will enable successful programme delivery, working in collaboration with wide multi-functional and talented teams from across the M&G business as well as external support (consultancies and third parties) where needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead from the front to partner with the business to plan and execute the programme that aligns to the organisational strategy and deliver outcomes with a focus on delivering the benefits.
  • Provide strong leadership, overseeing and supporting a team of business owners providing clarity on the priorities and expectations of those involved.
  • Identify the key risks that the programme is running and ensure risk mitigation is fully considered and managed.
  • Understand and manage the key dependencies and resource implications across the programme.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including at Board level, challenging decisions where appropriate to ensure a successful programme outcome.
  • Retain ownership of the programme brief and business case enabling the aims of the planned change to continue to align with M&G strategy to ensure programme benefits can be delivered.
  • Own the programme through setting clear priorities and responsibilities, coordinating planning across multiple delivery teams.
  • Adopt robust governance controls that support delivery and drive decision making.
  • Own and ensure the business architecture is preserved and decisions are made with clarity for the future.
  • Apply an assessment criteria that allows progress to be continuously evaluated against the scope, schedule, budget, risks, outcomes, and benefits, and provide direction to the programme team to ensure the business outcomes are realised.
  • Coordinate activities across all work streams to ensure that the strategic objectives and goals are met, and the programme is appropriately sequenced and balanced alongside other competing business priorities.
  • Drive regular daily/weekly/monthly meeting cadence, ensuring stringent tracking and reporting on initiatives and workstreams.
  • Oversee the handover to BAU, and business benefits realisation activities to close off the project.

  • Experience of working in a matrix with strong ability to influence, negotiate & persuade to keep the programme moving forward.
  • Confident in facilitating complex and large-scale workshops with senior stakeholders.
  • Able to drive change to business practices by working effectively across the organisation and understanding different perspectives.
  • Exceptional organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple resources, priorities, and deliverables to tight deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail with an ability to anticipate, prioritise and resolve complex issues using a variety of problem-solving and analytical skills to ensure the business outcome and benefits are realised.
  • Programme budgetary control and financial management.
  • Ability to articulate complex issues and offer solutions to ensure the business outcome and benefits are realised.
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of programme and project management tools and techniques and practical application.
Experience:
  • Experience of leading and delivering end-to-end complex enterprise-wide business transformation, collaborating with key stakeholders through the design and implementation of change.
  • Stakeholder management capability up to an executive level.
  • Extensive experience in Financial Services.
  • Hands-on, driven, proven execution leader with a track record of delivering material results/benefits to the business.
  • Commercial experience around cost to deliver and the ability to anticipate future operational run costs across an organisation and identify, track, and manage realisation of benefits.
  • Experience of managing multi-disciplinary teams across geographic locations.
  • Preferred experience of working in a highly controlled and regulated environment.
  • Knowledge of Prince 2, Lean/Six Sigma and Agile/Scrum methodologies would be beneficial.
