With more than 100 engineers and 25 years of experience, the Airbus navigation group is one of the leading expert groups in Europe for the development and implementation of the European satellite navigation systems EGNOS and Galileo. As part of the Galileo 2nd generation Satellite Payload Team, you support the ongoing development of subsystems for the Galileo Public Regulated Service (PRS) onboard the 2nd generation Galileo satellites. You are primarily responsible for the functions of the subsystems, the consistency of the payload architecture, operations design, and preparation for verification. Enthusiastic colleagues, supportive specialists, and key technological developments are part of your daily experience. You will be part of the technical organization, with project-related reporting directed to the Navigation Payload System Architect.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities :
  • Support of Galileo PRS (Public Regulated Service) implementation and validation across the satellite's entire end-to-end chain
  • Analyse the design in accordance with the assigned requirements to evaluate deviations necessary for implementation and manufacturing with the relevant stakeholders. Review of the compliance of a detailed design solution with the baseline of validated requirements for the respective subsystems
  • Ensure the flow down of PRS-related requirements, implementation, and the adequacy of operational handling and interfaces with the spacecraft. In particular to assist with respect to implementation questions on the following items:
    • Specifications for Data Dissemination (NAV message),
    • Data exchange with Crypto Units,
    • Commanding of PRS functions (TM/TC),
    • Adherence to classification levels,
    • Various configurations of modules/units (operational and for testing and verification),
    • Service quality achieved for the satellite
  • Ensure the overall consistency of the architecture and requirements for PRS generation across the subsystems of the navigation payload
  • Close interaction with subsystem managers, including participation in design, verification, and test reviews at the unit/module level
  • Support in maintaining the modules /units PRS-related requirements according to baseline
  • Support in the verification and validation of PRS-related requirements at the level of units, modules, payloads, and satellites .
  • Support for the Payload Operations Team in PRS-related operations, particularly by contributing to user manuals and operational procedures
  • Review and maintenance of test equipment requirements


We are looking for applicants with the following qualifications and experience :
  • Strong knowledge of the Galileo system (especially PRS), and general understanding of global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) and/or telecommunications systems .
  • Master's degree in aerospace engineering, telecommunications, computer science, electrical engineering, or equivalent .
  • At least 5 years of professional experience, including 2 years in major space projects, preferably within the Galileo program and/or GNSS-related services .
  • Knowledge of operational concepts, system integration and verification activities, system qualification and acceptance activities, and the requirement definition process for space systems .
  • Understanding of Flight Operations processes (control, monitoring, planning, configuration management, procedure creation, and validation), preferably with additional knowledge of related ECSS and Packet Utilisation Standard (PUS) norms .
  • Possession of a valid personal security clearance or eligibility for clearance by your national security authority .
  • Experience with DOORS an advantage
  • Ability to work independently with a methodical and analytical approach together with strong communication skills .
  • English at C2 level, German at B2 level .
