General Manager

We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative leader to join our team and lead the Directorate of Stroke and Neurosciences on a fixed term basis until the 31st March 2025 due to the secondment of the substantive post holder.
In this role, you will be predominantly based at Charing Cross Hospital, though with services also delivered at St Mary's Hospital. You will be working as part of a triumvirate team to lead delivery of a range of services against quality, financial, performance, and strategic objectives.
As the General Manager you will:
- Be accountable for the operational performance of the Directorate comprising stroke, stroke rehab, neurology, and neurophysiology. This will include accountability for the delivery of high-quality patient care, clinical governance, patient safety, clinical quality, and delivery of financial targets.
- Have joint responsibility with the other Directorate General Managers and members of the Divisional management team for driving forward divisional wide programmes of work and service direction linked to finance, operational performance, and quality.
- Work closely with the Divisional Director of Operations to implement the objectives for the directorate.
This role will be ideally suited for individuals looking to develop towards senior general manager roles in NHS operations. You will have strong skills in communication and relationship management with a range of internal and external stakeholders and a proven track record of managing competing demands while delivering complex programmes of work against a plan and to a deadline.

- Work closely with the Divisional Director of Operations to shape and implement the corporate objectives for the Trust.
- Support the Divisional Director to align the Directorate more closely with Imperial College, through the development of appropriate links with the Academic Health Science Centre office and with college counterparts.
- Ensure that the necessary corporate governance arrangements are in place across the Division in line with requirements of a Foundation Trust.

Person Specification Education/ Qualifications- First degree or equivalent.
- Evidence of other specialist knowledge at higher degree or master's level.
- Evidence of CPD.
- Significant experience in clinical service management at a senior level in a large, complex acute hospital environment, including a track record of staff management, financial management, performance management, and change management.
- Demonstrable success in delivering large scale change and performance with and through management and clinical teams.
- A good understanding of the changing NHS environment.
- Excellent IT and financial skills.
- Excellent inter-personal skills.
- Experience of managing and deciding on complex employment issues.
