Ascendis Pharma is seeking a General Manager for Germany to lead and further expand our commercial presence in this key market

The role
As General Manager, Germany, you will oversee the ongoing success of our established affiliate, ensuring the continued growth of our endocrinology portfolio. You will report directly to Anders With Fogstrup, Head of Europe 1, who is based in Copenhagen and work closely with global and regional teams to ensure alignment with Ascendis' strategic goals.
The position is based in Munich.
Your key responsibilities will be
- Continue driving the performance of our German affiliate, ensuring strong financial and operational outcomes while maintaining P&L responsibility.
- Lead the execution of commercial strategies to optimize product performance and market share in the German market, while ensuring efficient processes and best practices across the affiliate.
- Identify new opportunities to expand our endocrinology pipeline and enhance our presence in the German market and ensure best in class launches going forward.
- Strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, including KOLs, regulators, payors, and patient organizations, to maintain Ascendis' reputation as a leader in rare disease endocrinology.
- Lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Identify talent development opportunities and ensure the team is equipped to meet both current and future needs.
- Work closely with global and European teams to ensure local execution aligns with broader company objectives and to leverage global resources for local success.
- Ensure that all activities comply with regulatory and compliance requirements and that market access strategies are effectively implemented to maintain product availability and access.
Qualifications and skills
- A master's degree in business administration, Health Policy, or Health Economics
- 10-15 years of experience in Market Access, Pricing/Reimbursement, Marketing, or Sales.
- A proven track record of leadership and commercial success in the German pharmaceutical market
- Experience managing established affiliates with P&L responsibility
- Strong relationships with key stakeholders in the German healthcare and regulatory ecosystem
- The ability to drive operational efficiency and optimize commercial outcomes
- A deep understanding of the market dynamics in rare disease and endocrinology
- Fluency in both English and German; additional European language skills are a plus
