GP - Lister House Surgery. At Salaried, Employed or Consultant level

Exceptional opportunity with this innovative primary care/general practice providerat our Medical Centre in Wiveliscombe, Somerset. 3 sessions are available with an attractive and comprehensive remuneration package and employee benefits.

We have a modern purpose built surgery with a dispensarysituated within the building and care for about 6,700 patients in the localcommunity. Were also part of Symphony, the largest GP provider in Somerset sobenefit from the experience and learning across a network of 20 practices.

A friendly, countrypractice in a rural location, yet with the support of a network of practicesbehind you so you can concentrate on patient care.

We have fast links to London,Bristol, Exeter and Bath by rail or road. And Bristol, Bournemouth, Southamptonand Exeter International Airport links Somerset to the world.

Wiveliscombe is a thriving small town surrounded bybeautiful countryside, set in the Brendon Hills on the edge of Exmoor. The townis a short drive away from the county town of Taunton, which has much to offer including diverse shopping, restaurants,and regularly hosted international music and sporting fixtures. There areexcellent private and state schools in close proximity, with Taunton being hometo public institutions such as Kings College, Queens College andTaunton School, to award winning state school Richard Huish College.

Main duties of the job

You would undertake all the clinical duties associated witha GP working in primary care, without the responsibilities and risksassociated with being a partner. We can offer opportunities from salariedthrough to employed and consultant level GP posts depending on your experienceand the level of responsibility you take on at the practice.

All GPs working for us are paid as Employees, unlikePartners, which means less risk for you and more time to focus on patient care.We put patients first, with our Employed and Consultant GPs working flexiblyaccording to need, so contributing to areas such as QOF, QI, training andresearch projects providing a huge amount of variety to the role. However, our SalariedGPs have a clearly defined job plan setting out the hours of work andresponsibility and tasks associated with the role.

Through annual appraisal, we encourage career developmentand progression and are keen to support GPs who wish to extend their role, orhave specialist skills which can be utilised in primary care. We recognise thatsome GPs will wish to stay salaried, and some will wish to assume moreresponsibility once they have found their feet and aspire to Employed orConsultant roles.

GP ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Person Specification Qualifications
  • A medical practitioner whose name is included in the General Practitioner Register under article 10 of the General and Specialist Medical Practice Order 2003
  • Not subject to suspension under section 41A of the Medical Act 1983
  • Qualified General Practitioner (completed certificate of Completion of Training CCT)
  • Currently on a performers list and not suspended from that list or from the medical register
  • Accredited as a member of the Royal College Of General Practitioners (MRCGP) MBBS or equivalent medical degree
