Main duties of the jobThe post-holder will deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting.
Clinical responsibilities:
- As agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, checking/signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
- Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols.
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
- In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Established educational environment with 4 GP trainers as well as supervisors of foundation doctors and medical students.
Full primary care multidisciplinary team consisting of 14 GP Partners, 3 Salaried GPs, ANP, 2 MSK Practitioners, 6 Paramedics, 3 Clinical Pharmacists, 2 Pharmacy Technicians, 2 Mental Health Practitioners, 2 Social Prescribers and a Health and Well Being Coach.
Paramedic run home visiting service, very rare GP need for home visiting.

Job responsibilities
- The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population.
- The provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract.
- Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance.
- Effective management of long-term conditions.
- Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks.
- On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles.
- Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance.
- Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload.
- Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process.
- Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice.
- Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) of the QOF.
- Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required.
- Contribute effectively to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training.
- Ensure compliance with the appraisal process.
- Prepare and complete the revalidation process.
- Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team.
- Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines.
- Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure.
- Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies.
- Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
- Qualified GP
- MRCGP
- Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP
- General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT)
- Full GMC registration
- National Performers List registration
- Appropriate defence indemnity (MPS/MDU)
- Eligibility to practice in the UK independently
- Experience of working in a primary care environment
- Experience of continued professional development
- Experience of QOF and clinical audit
- Minimum of two years as a salaried GP
