Job Description

Marex is a diversified global financial services platform, providing essential liquidity, market access and infrastructure services to clients in the energy, commodities and financial markets.

This role exists to take ownership of all elements of counterparty risk monitoring across the Marex EMEA client base and in conjunction with other regional Heads, ensure a thorough understanding and reporting of counterparty risk exposures and appropriate limits across the firm.

You will lead the EMEA counterparty risk function including responsibility for supporting and developing analysts and to deputise for the Global Head of Credit where necessary.

You will produce well researched and articulated recommendations for credit facilities submitted to the Global Head of Credit Risk, Global Head of Risk, CRO & Executive Risk & Credit Committee.

Responsibilities:

  1. Qualitative and quantitative analysis of all current and potential clients & counterparties including; Corporates, Financial Institutions, Individuals, CCP's & State Owned (or pseudo State Owned) Enterprises.
  2. Continual focus on global macro-economic environment with understanding of specific country factors and the impact of those factors on the credit risk assessment with regard to clients & counterparties incorporated or operating in those countries.
  3. Lead integration projects for new acquisitions from a counterparty credit perspective.
  4. Form well-researched and intellectually credible recommendations for new credit facilities and renewals.
  5. High levels of interaction with clients, as required, on both a domestic and international basis.
  6. Management information reporting where relevant on a periodic and ad-hoc basis.
  7. Act as an advisor and subject matter expert to guide the business for all credit related items in the EMEA region and beyond, managing the credit facility application and annual review process for the allocated client base.
  8. Form enduring and effective working relationships across all internal departments to reinforce the firm's client service model.
  9. Contribute to enhancing existing and/or implementation of new credit risk policies, procedures and processes to drive the department forward and ensure adherence to best practice.
  10. Communicate & escalate all relevant items to the Global head of Credit, Global Head of Risk and the CRO as appropriate.

Skills and Experience:

  1. Strong and demonstrable understanding of corporate financial statement analysis gained ideally through an investment banking or institutional brokerage background.
  2. Track record in forming well researched conclusions on credit assessments including; internally modelled credit ratings and recovery potential in the event of default.
  3. Understanding credit risk inherent in granting credit facilities to cover the margin requirements (initial and variation) of futures and options.
  4. University graduate (or equivalent) or sufficient relevant work experience.
  5. Good knowledge of MS Office products, Bloomberg is advantageous.
  6. Experience of reviewing clients that operate in the Commodities sector.
  7. Additional language skills other than English is desirable.
  8. Experience working in a regulated environment and knowledge of the risk and compliance requirements associated with this.
