Job Description

How we grow and develop in our workplace is broken.

Career growth often relies on traditional management structures: hierarchical with irregular one-to-one sessions, infrequent career conversations, rare actionable feedback, and that once-a-year performance review. People can't grow that way. We know we grow best when we learn from each other, learning from others who are great. When we're given feedback to help us improve, not to judge us. Great leaders nudge and guide us through continuously.

What if we could build a tool to do just that? An Artificial Intelligence that learns from our collective activity to coach and guide us on where we could improve? What if this tool was built into our workflows: generating continuous suggestions and nudges to help your team achieve its goals, improve skills and behaviours, and increase team alignment, cohesion, and purpose.

Kaizan is building an entirely different way of engaging and aligning with people at work. We're looking for people to be responsible for figuring out how people best interface with an AI that guides behaviours. And you'll work closely with our founders to define an ethical framework to guide our AI and future product development.

What will you be doing?

You will be joining us early in our journey, so you'll shape not only our product, but the company itself: who we work with, and how we work together.

We're seeking someone to:

  1. Build the product - We have a working prototype, and are building our beta. You'll work with engineers and product people to plan, design, and implement our core service. You'll help validate hypotheses through generative research, and drive our user experience from initial concept through to shipping and beyond. You will be responsible for building a consistent brand and experience across all aspects of the product.

  2. Offer thought leadership - You will be designing systems to make simple, elegant experiences that belie the complexity of the underlying technology. You'll work with the whole team to define what we need to do, as well as translate things into working solutions. You need to identify future opportunities too, working as a key partner to your colleagues in product and engineering.

  3. Grow our team - Everyone in an early team plays a vital role in hiring and growing other talented team members. We'll look to you to help set the example for the kind of team we all want to build together.

Is this the job for you?
  1. We need a generalist - As the first person in this role, you'll need to work across the entire product lifecycle: from research, to solution design, to implementation. We're looking for a generalist who's as comfortable communicating their ideas high- or low-fidelity, as they are conducting usability studies or depth interviews with our customers.

  2. We need someone experienced - This is a senior role: your ability to solve complex design problems and effectively prototype ideas is critical to our future success. We're looking for people who have taken a product from ideation to release enough times to develop an instinct for what can and can't work.

  3. We'd like to see a track record - We're looking for people who can demonstrate great solutions they've shipped, which solved real problems for real people. You'll have an understanding of what matters at each stage of the product development cycle. And we need someone with a comprehensive knowledge of mobile and web design patterns (and when to break them).

We are headquartered in London, and work remote first. It's not a remote-only role (for now), we'll meet regularly during the early stages of our journey so easy travel to London is important.
