Job Description

I am pleased to be supporting this prestigious Midlands Plc to recruit a highly commercial Head of Finance. This company is a market leader, with a track record for offering long term career progression.

As the Head of Finance, you will be act as a pure business partner, working closely with the Finance Director and Managing Director, to contribute significantly to strategic decision making to drive ongoing performance and increase of market share.

You will be a commercially minded Finance Leader, responsible for driving business performance in a dynamic, multi-site business. You will play a critical role in protecting and improving the gross margin of the business by identifying a range of solutions and actions to achieve this.


Responsibilities include:

  • Advising the Managing Director and Leadership Teams on all matters relating to past, current and future financial performance.
  • Implementing robust financial processes and procedures to ensure effective and efficient financial management.
  • Providing direction on the financial and operational strategy.
  • Leading the budgeting, forecasting, and planning process
  • Oversight of all financial and accounting matters including month end reports, management accounts, presentation of management information and KPIs
  • Identifying process simplification initiatives and taking ownership for delivering change.
  • Directing and coaching finance staff to ensure that they are appropriately motivated and instilling a culture of continuous improvement.


Skills and attributes:

  • A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant experience in a senior finance business partnering role.
  • Track record within a large, multi-site retail or B2B wholesale / distribution business.
  • Experience of managing a finance team and working with senior stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement financial strategies that support business objectives
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide insights to support decision-making
