Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership:

- Oversee the quality of teaching, learning, and assessment in Geography across all key stages.
- Manage the department's budget effectively, ensuring resources are allocated strategically to support teaching and learning.
- Curriculum Development:
- Lead the Geography department in the ongoing development of a stimulating and challenging Geography curriculum, ensuring it aligns with the National Curriculum, best practices, and the latest advancements in geographical pedagogy.
- Identify and implement innovative teaching and learning strategies to enhance student engagement and geographical understanding.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive environment within the Geography department, promoting the sharing of best practices and professional development.
- Teaching and Learning:
- Teach a reduced timetable of engaging and stimulating Geography lessons, demonstrating strong subject knowledge and pedagogical skills.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods to cater to diverse learning styles and ensure all students reach their full potential.
- Employ effective assessment strategies to monitor student progress and inform future teaching.
- External Relations:
- Maintain strong links with external geographical societies, universities, and organizations to enrich the curriculum and provide students with wider learning opportunities.
- Organize and lead fieldwork trips and expeditions, providing students with real-world experiences and opportunities to develop their geographical skills.
The Ideal Candidate:
- A qualified Geography teacher with a proven track record of leadership success: Possess a recognized teaching qualification and demonstrate a successful track record of leading and managing a Geography department, with a passion for inspiring and motivating both students and colleagues.
- A deep understanding of the National Curriculum for Geography and a passion for innovative teaching methods: Demonstrate a strong understanding of geographical concepts, theories, and research methods. Embrace innovative teaching approaches and utilize technology effectively to enhance student learning.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills: Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, parents, and external stakeholders, building strong relationships and fostering a collaborative learning environment.
- The ability to motivate and inspire students, fostering a love of Geography and geographical inquiry: Create a stimulating and engaging learning environment that encourages students to explore the world around them, develop their geographical skills, and become informed and responsible global citizens.
