Job Description
Head of Operational Governance

Are you an Operational Governance leader with a deep understanding of FCA regulations in the Re(Insurance) industry and a proven track record in consumer and SME markets? If you're interested in joining a high-performing team at a top global professional services organisation and making a meaningful impact, we would love to hear from you. This is a hybrid role based in London, offering flexibility to work both in the office and from home.

What the day will look like

As Head of Operational Governance, you will establish and implement a comprehensive, client-centric business governance framework, while working closely with key stakeholders to ensure that all policies and procedures are robust, up-to-date, and tailored to local business contexts.

  • Lead the Governance team in developing a proactive governance approach that aligns with Aon Global and UK policies. This includes areas such as Consumer Duty, Operational Resilience, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption.
  • Collaborate with essential stakeholders to define the governance meeting and oversight framework, ensuring clarity regarding the expectations from each business unit and establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) as necessary.
  • Assess legal, regulatory, and other changes affecting the control framework, and engage with business operations to determine implications and required actions. Monitor implementation to ensure the presence of appropriate controls that demonstrate ongoing compliance.
  • Find opportunities for improvement by using data to standardise processes, automate key controls, and improve management information (MI) reporting. Develop and implement measures for risk monitoring, improving the quality of Board, Operating Committee, and other key MI dashboards.
  • Define and maintain the first line operational governance framework required to support new and existing legislation and Aon policy and procedures, in areas such as Consumer Duty, Operational Resilience, Complaints, E&Os, Anti-Bribery & Corruption, Business Conflicts of Interest, Cross-Border requirements, CDD, SM&CR and other regulatory areas.
  • Monitor implementation and ensure appropriate controls are in place to evidence ongoing compliance.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
  • A proven leader with significant experience in managing risk and compliance activities on behalf of the business, upholding strong leadership values.
  • An ability to collaborate effectively in a matrix management environment, demonstrating refined verbal and written communication skills.
  • Competence in building and maintaining relationships at senior organisational levels, thus facilitating effective decision-making processes. A comprehensive understanding of FCA regulations pertinent to (re)insurance broking, alongside a successful track record in consumer and small to medium enterprises.
  • Experience in leading and developing high-performance teams, as well as a capability for navigating diverse business environments and influencing collaborators.
