Summary

Freedom Major Projects & Connections team are currently recruiting an individual who will be responsible for leading the team in the identification and processing of new business opportunities; planning and working winning efforts for securing project works; and for initial delivery of D&B opportunities involving significant front-end development and design effort through early contractor involvement, to ensure a robust and favourable plan is in place for the Construction phase.

The pre-construction phase of these opportunities will involve building client relationships, supporting the client in developing their requirements, embedding Freedom as the Power partner of choice, developing robust pricing/proposals/programmes, securing new contracts and carrying out the development/design/procurement activities in a manner that de-risks the delivery of the construction work.

Major Projects & Connections are operating within and seeking to expand our portfolio of ICP Connection and Private Network/BOP project across Generation/Renewables (including PV, Wind, and Battery Storage), Data Centres, Logistics Parks, Infrastructure Providers (Water, Ports, Telecoms etc), Commercial Developments etc.

This role will be critical to the growth and evolution of the Freedom Major Projects & Connections division, in line with our agreed business plan and key relationship management of our targeted clients. The role will come with the opportunity to shape and grow the Pre-Construction Management team (PCM) and the way it operates to meet our short- and long-term business development goals.

Some of the key deliverables in this role will include:

  • Manage an active multi-year pipeline of opportunities.
  • Grow, manage and co-ordinate a multi-discipline Pre-Construction team.
  • Establish key relationships with potential clients and develop existing client relationships.
  • Own the Pre-Construction bid process from initial contact to execution of main contract.
  • Drawing on specialists within the team, this process will include:
  • Bid No Bid
  • Delivery of Time Charge Order/Pre-Contract Services Agreement style engagements to develop opportunities and carry out early development/design work to mature the opportunities.
  • Engagement with Supply Chain and Manufacturing
  • Engagement with Operations
  • Review Contract Conditions
  • Risk & Opportunity Assessment
  • Bid/Proposal preparation and sign off.
  • Contract Kick-off & Handover to Operations
  • Contract Close-Out & Review
  • Client Feedback Survey & Review
  • Contract negotiations (Client and supply chain) Carry out periodic internal reporting on progress of opportunities.
  • Ensure that all negotiated or tendered opportunities are properly qualified, reviewed and updated in CRM.
  • Work with Freedom Professional Services, MP&C Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturers, and estimating teams to ensure that we provide compliant and market-leading tender returns.
  • Help to develop the Pre-Construction team to grow both in personnel but also in process management.
  • Work closely with the delivery teams and Key Account Managers to proactively identify growth opportunities within current and future key clients.

What we're looking for:

  • Proven understanding of how the Development, Design and Build of complex Power/Connection schemes is carried out.
  • Experience in the Utilities, Major Connections and Generation sector is essential with either a DNO/Transmission background in design and build of Connections or a technical Consultancy background in project delivery of power/electrical engineering projects.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills to include interpersonal, written, staff level and executive level business briefings.
  • Experience of proactively engaging customers to improve relationships for the long-term and continue to drive value.
  • Recent and relevant experience of working with key accounts and customers across private and public sector.
