Job Description

We have direct instructions from our client, which is seeking an experienced litigator with at least 6 years' post qualification experience (and a proven track record), to conduct Public Law casework, to supervise more junior fee earners and staff and to build the firm's Public Law practice.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  1. Providing high quality legal advice and competently managing a caseload involving public and regulatory law;
  2. Advising on any matters including legal and policy related issues;
  3. Drafting complex legal documentation;
  4. Attending conferences and court;
  5. Seeking new clients in the NGO, Not-For-Profit and charity sectors;
  6. Delegating work and providing casework supervision to more junior fee earners and to other staff;
  7. Line managing junior fee earners.

Requirements:

  1. Qualified solicitor, with rights to practise in England and Wales;
  2. Extensive experience in dealing with all Public Law related work. Expertise in Judicial Review is essential;
  3. Strong management skills;
  4. Previous proven supervisory experience;
  5. Previous proven experience of working to key performance indicators;
  6. Professional person with a pro-active approach; excellent client care skills and the ability to deal sensitively with vulnerable clients, and the ability to resolve the complicated practicalities in this area of law;
  7. Excellent networking and communication skills, with the ability to successfully market the firm and generate new business.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a unique law firm, which is at an early stage of its development, to lead and to expand its Public Law caseload and to help establish the practice as a 'go to' firm for organisations which are looking to make a positive change to the world.

The role requires a qualified solicitor, who has considerable experience of running their own litigation, is comfortable with supervising others and has minimal need for supervision on day-to-day casework. However, the firm does also offer excellent training and supervision where needed, as well as the opportunity to progress.

The successful candidate will be proactive, have a sense of adventure, and feel comfortable within a dynamic, rapid-paced environment.
