Position Summary:

The Managed Solutions team, which includes Institutional Portfolio Management, provides investment products and portfolio management services underpinning Consulting Group's Select UMA platform - the industry-leading Unified Managed Accounts platform with over $500 Billion in assets under management. The team offers a comprehensive, unified approach to asset allocation, manager selection, account management, trading, and overall relationship management to Morgan Stanley's Financial Advisors and their clients.

The Institutional Portfolio Management team supports the investment needs of institutional clients looking to invest in single-style equity SMAs by providing portfolio management, trading, technology, and innovative solutions to support their investment mandates. Institutional Portfolio Management's $3Bn investment service allows organizations the ability to access Morgan Stanley's sophisticated unified managed account (UMA) investment platform while retaining custody at their existing external custodian.

Responsibilities:
  • Assisting Financial Advisors with asset allocation and manager selection
  • Presenting Institutional Portfolio Management for specialized situations to Financial Advisors and clients
  • Managing trade generation
  • Providing continuous oversight for and performing risk management of the account base
  • Organizing, attending, coordinating meetings and conference calls with Financial Advisors in support of their Select UMA books or prospects
  • Participating in developing solutions and enhancements that drive business efficiencies and propel growth
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders such as OCIO, Graystone, and MS Family Office to drive business growth of the platform, engagement and increase awareness
  • Participating in continuous education with respect to firm's global investment advice, product research and industry trends
  • Supporting the broader Managed Solutions business through engagement in sales campaigns and client outreach
  • Preparing strategy presentations and conducting business analysis in support of management presentations
  • Identifying & coordinating process improvements with internal and external partners
  • Managing relationships with external vendors and custodial partners
Minimum Requirements:
  • Equivalent to Bachelor's degree with business related coursework. B.S. in Finance, Business Management, or Accounting preferred
  • Knowledge of financial securities markets, Advisory platforms, programs and products, as well as legal and regulatory requirements
  • Strong team player who has the ability to envision solutions and work collaboratively to institute business improvements
  • Ability to adapt to a continually changing work environment while managing multiple priorities
  • 7+ years experience in the financial services industry
  • Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written form
  • FINRA Series 7 license required; Willingness to obtain Series 66 (or 63/65) within 180 days of hire
  • Portfolio management experience a plus

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $110,000 and $185,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
