An exciting opportunity has arisen for an IT Project Manager to join the IT Department at Milton Keynes Hospital. The successful applicant will play a key role in supporting the smooth delivery of the next exciting phase of IT Programme delivery.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience providing high quality project management using recognised methodology, preferably in a healthcare environment, be an excellent communicator and pay close attention to detail.

Main duties of the job

The aim of this role is to manage projects associated with the Programme to expand the use of the Electronic Patient Record system 'eCARE' (Cerner Millennium) and other projects overseen by the IT Programme Board to support the delivery of the Informatics Strategy and Roadmap to accelerate the achievement of digital maturity across MKUH.

Working on overarching Trust-wide projects, the post-holder will be responsible for achieving the successful implementation of new digital solutions, facilitating clinical adoption and the delivery of outlined benefits. This involves overseeing data collection, planning and monitoring of projects, ensuring project milestones and deadlines are met, that solutions are fully tested and robust training plans are in place.

Essentially, the post-holder will facilitate strong stakeholder engagement to ensure the integration of key clinical, managerial and operational processes which underpin successful delivery of projects.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

1. Develop project plans, clearly outlining milestones, risks and outcome measures

2. Lead on the delivery of assigned projects, working alongside clinical and other colleagues to secure successful outcomes

3. Ensure project outputs are of high quality and produced on time and within budget, in line with the requirements outlined in the project plan

4. Manage, identify and assess the main priorities and risks associated with the project including the development of contingency plans and managing conflicting priorities between stakeholders with different expectations

5. Proactively monitor progress, issues and risks for projects which the post-holder is leading on, using judgement to take corrective and mitigating action where necessary

6. Provide regular feedback and update reports on progress, issues and risks to senior stakeholders

7. Lead and manage project steering groups and associated sub-groups

8. Work with and provide support to managers, clinicians and other stakeholders to enable a whole system approach to sharing, influencing and implementing new processes

9. Communicate effectively with others, employing skills to motivate, negotiate and influence opinions both within the Trust and externally (both NHS and suppliers)

10. Take responsibility for overall project progress and use of resources to initiate corrective action when necessary

11. Establish appropriate audit and evaluation processes to produce an evidence base relating to the delivery of projects and associated benefits

12. Monitor and evaluate projects to ensure delivery of objectives within agreed timescales and budgets

13. Demonstrate good knowledge and understanding of current national and local strategies, guidance, best practice and targets that impact on individual projects

14. Facilitate and lead project developments and ensure improved efficiency through the application of IT solutions.
