Junior Estimator (Civils) - £30,000 - £35,000 + Package

This company has over 25 years of experience in the construction industry. They specialise in a wide range of services, including large groundworks packages, drainage, deep sewers, 278 works, reinforced concrete structures, and power-floated industrial ground and composite concrete floors. My client operates as both a specialist subcontractor and a principal contractor, delivering projects up to £10 million across the UK. Their approach emphasises innovation, safety, and quality, ensuring successful project delivery and strong client relationships.
Your new role
They are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Junior Estimator with experience in civil engineering to join their team. The Junior Estimator will support the senior estimating team in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for various construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in analysing blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Conduct site visits to gather data on access, drainage, and topography.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, clients, and contractors to develop comprehensive estimates.
  • Use estimating software for data analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Document all quantity surveying activities and audit them for accuracy.
  • Assist in the preparation of cost reports and track changes to designs, plans, and construction timelines that may affect project costs.
  • Support the senior estimator in preparing bids and proposals.
What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven experience as an estimator or in a similar role, preferably in civil engineering.
  • Familiarity with financial and project management principles.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Proficient in using estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
