At our site in Eye, Suffolk we are looking to recruit a Laboratory Supervisor to join our expanding Physico Chemical Testing team within our Environmental Sciences department.

As a Supervisor at Labcorp you will be responsible for a team of technicians undertaking specific tasks in support of Physico Chemistry testing studies along with carrying out technician duties.

Duties include:

  • Assisting in the day to day running of the laboratories and in conjunction with the Team Leader, the organisation of staff work-loads

  • Setting up and performing a variety of studies using appropriate instrumentation with routine and non-routine methods

  • Critically reviewing study protocol in primary area of work and suggest changes where appropriate

  • Providing input and participating in study meetings (i.e. pre-initiation meeting)

  • Maintaining study documentation in compliance with regulatory guidelines and reviews own work for overall accuracy, timeliness, completeness, and soundness of technical judgment

  • Delivering results within agreed timeframe, whilst recognising changes in priorities and routinely support studies in non-primary area of work

  • Ability to write, review and revise standard SOPs related to primary area of work

  • Ability to conduct most processes/task in support of broad portfolio of study types

  • Participating in QC review of selected routine data and validation projects

  • Maintaining a clean and safe laboratory work environment and perform routine maintenance

  • Attending pre study and terminal reviews, briefs staff of any amendments to ensure they are fully compliant

  • Line management responsibility, and the position holder is responsible for supporting, mentoring and counselling laboratory team members. Ensuring that all experimental procedures, data recording, health and safety factors and housekeeping is completed efficiently and to the highest standards of animal welfare and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) in accordance with current Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

  • Reviewing the training needs, development and progress of staff

Education:

  • Minimum A-levels or equivalent. Degree in relevant scientific field preferred. Experience may be substituted for education

Experience:

  • Supervisory experience within a laboratory, preferably working to regulatory standards such as GLP

  • Previous experience of staff management including development and training is desirable

  • Previous experience of Physico Chemical testing is essential

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills paired with attention to detail
