We are seeking an experienced Algorithmic/Electronic Trading Systems Technical Lead to join a dynamic team in London. You will work closely with the Electronic Market Making (EMM)/Trading business to design, develop, and implement cutting-edge electronic trading systems. This role requires a seasoned professional with deep expertise in C++ programming and extensive experience in high-performance trading environments.
As the Technical Lead, you will:
- Provide Technical Leadership: Lead a team of expert C++ developers, driving excellence in software engineering practices and high-performance trading systems.
- Hands-on Development: Design and code core components of the trading platform, ensuring performance, scalability, and low latency.
- Champion Operational Excellence: Ensure platform stability and maximize uptime for trading systems across global markets.
- Collaborate with Stakeholders: Communicate effectively with business stakeholders to align technical solutions with strategic goals.
Qualifications
This role requires a minimum of three days per week on-site presence in London.
- Experience:
- 5 - 10 years of experience in software development.
- Minimum 5 years in technical leadership roles.
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field with an excellent academic track record.
- Methodologies: Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or similar methodologies.
Technical Expertise
- C++ Proficiency: Advanced skills in C++ programming with a deep understanding of object-oriented principles, data structures, and algorithms.
- High-Performance Trading Systems: Proven track record in algorithmic/electronic/real-time trading systems development in financial institutions, hedge funds, proprietary trading firms, or specialist liquidity providers.
- Systems Design & Optimisation: Expertise in distributed systems, architecture, and performance/latency optimisation.
- Linux Platforms: Strong knowledge and experience with Linux-based development environments.
Additional Skills
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git), CI/CD pipelines, and build systems.
- Knowledge of other programming languages (e.g., Python, Java) is a plus.
- Ability to translate complex business requirements into functional and optimized code.
Leadership & Communication
- Proven experience as a Technical Lead or similar role, with a track record of managing high-performing engineering teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to mentor team members, influence stakeholders, and foster a collaborative team environment.
- Flexible and pragmatic mindset, with an open approach to learning and problem-solving.
