Job Description

Wereldhave Belgium is looking for

an experienced and solution-oriented Legal Counsel to strengthen our legal team. You will joining

a publicly listed real estate investor and manager of shopping centres, retail parks and offices. Our focus lies in transforming these sites into Full Service Centres - all-in-one destinations that meet daily needs such as shopping, leisure, health, work and more, supported by innovative concepts and digital services.

Wereldhave Belgium is active in strategic locations including Brussels, Antwerp, Nivelles, Liège, Kortrijk, Tournai, Genk, Bruges, Turnhout and Waterloo. We are also present in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, with shopping centres in Schmiede and Pommerloch.


How will you impact our organization?

At Wereldhave Belgium, we combine strategic thinking with a hands-on mentality and strongly believe in collaboration and trust. As a Legal Counsel, you will provide pragmatic legal support to the business, work closely with departments such as Leasing, Finance and Operations, and contribute to clear and carefully considered real estate transactions and contractual processes. You will report directly to the General Counsel.


Your responsibilities as Legal Counsel will include:

Contract management

- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating real estate agreements such as leasehold, building rights, (commercial) leases, construction and purchase/sale agreements

- Aligning legal documents with commercial reality, with a keen eye for detail and efficiency

Transactions & due diligence

- Providing legal support for asset and share deals, mergers and contributions

- Preparing, coordinating and analysing due diligence processes

Internal legal advice

- Proactively offering legal advice to various departments within the organisation

- Providing practical, solution-driven support on operational and strategic cases

Legislation & document management

- Monitoring changes in laws and regulations and translating them to the business context

- Keeping legal corporate documents up-to-date and ensuring correct publications

Corporate housekeeping

- Contributing to the preparation of General Meetings and board documentation

- Supporting financial reporting and corporate governance obligations

Project coordination & reporting

- Coordinating and following up on organisational projects within the legal framework

- Taking meeting minutes, following up on action points and preparing reports

Communication & publications

- Supporting the follow-up of press releases and legal content on the corporate website

- Ensuring content alignment in terms of legal compliance and reputation


Your profile:

- Master's degree in Law, with at least 5 to 8 years of relevant experience (law firm, notary office or in-house legal)

- Excellent knowledge of and experience with real estate/corporate law; experience with regulated real estate companies (RREC) and real estate taxation is a plus

- Strong negotiation and communication skills

- Practical, autonomous and solution-oriented approach

- Languages: professional proficiency in Dutch, French and English

- You work with precision, are discreet and take ownership

- You thrive in a fast-changing environment with a strong connection to retail
