Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Locum Consultant to join the Dermatology team at Whittington Health. This is a fixed term post comprising of 8 programmed activities at Whittington Hospital with clinics in General Dermatology, Paediatric Dermatology, Skin Cancer Screening, Biologics for Psoriasis and Dermatological Surgery. There is also the opportunity to substitute a General Dermatology programmed activity for Routine Teledermatology, depending on service need.

The service seeks a dynamic, innovative and enthusiastic colleague, committed to the highest standards of practice, evidence-based medicine and quality assurance. Whittington Health is a key provider of Dermatology services in North Central London (NCL) and is a leading partner in the NCL Dermatology network. It serves the populations of Haringey, Islington and Camden directly, and receives referrals from across London through the NHS Choose and Book service. It manages approximately 10,000 patient attendances annually. The successful Locum Consultant will be central to the further development of Dermatology services at Whittington Health.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Full GMC Registration
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register
  • CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview)
  • CESR or European Community Rights
  • The post holder should hold the MRCP(UK) or an equivalent qualification.
  • An appropriate higher degree (eg. An MD, PhD or equivalent).
Special interest
  • Wide range of skills and knowledge of dermatology techniques and procedures appropriate to the services and complementary to the existing team
  • An enthusiasm to safely develop new skills and techniques to enhance the dermatology service
  • Experience of setting up and running biologics clinics.
Teaching
  • An interest and proven ability to teach medical students, junior medical staff and non-medical staff
  • An understanding of current issues in medical education
  • Possession of a teaching qualification/ attendance at a recognised teaching course
Research
  • An interest in research as evidenced by publications and by ideas of development using the strengths of the service on both sites
Management ability
  • Evidence of the ability to lead a team (evidenced by teams you have led, ideas you have brought to fruition)
  • Commitment to effective departmental management involvement in wider Trust issues which may impact on the speciality and the department
  • Ability to develop, present and plan the implementation of coherent ideas for service development

£105,504 to £139,882 a year per annum pro rata
