Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Gastroenterology Department to work within the Medical PA team. This job is varied and rewarding. The successful applicant will work within a well-established dedicated team who care about their patients and their families and the service they deliver.

Previous experience as a medical secretary or work within a clinical setting would be advantageous. However, this position would also be suitable as a development opportunity for a band 3 junior secretary looking for a role with greater responsibility.

You will need to be a good team player and be happy working with a broad range of people, with different skills. You will need to demonstrate that you can act on your own initiative, with kindness and empathy and that you are committed to providing the highest possible standard of service to our patients, families and to both our internal and external colleagues.

Main duties of the job

The Gastroenterology department is well recognised as a leading centre of advanced paediatric gastrointestinal medicine, clinical research, and teaching. The aim of the department is to provide a high standard of care for children with complex gastroenterological diseases. It is divided into 3 sub-specialities: Neurogastroenterology and motility, mucosal immunology, and intestinal rehabilitation.

Children are seen either as inpatients on Squirrel Ward or as day case or short stay patients on Kingfisher Ward, where we also have our investigation suite.

Working for our organisation

GOSH is committed to recruiting the best person for the job, based solely on their ability and individual merit as measured against the criteria for the role; through a process that is fair, open, consistent and free from bias and discrimination.

We are committed to being a diverse and inclusive employer and foster a culture where all staff are valued, respected and acknowledged. All applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, age, disability status or length of time spent unemployed.

We particularly welcome applications from BAME communities, people with disabilities and/or long-term health conditions and LGBT+ community members.
