The Medical Division at Mid Yorkshire Teaching Hospitals providesAcute care across the range of medical specialities in a large modern purpose-builthospital in Wakefield, which includes a large Acute Assessment Unit, AcuteElderly Assessment Unit, Coronary Care and Acute (Respiratory) Care Unit. We also provide care for Acute ElderlyAdmissions and step-down care for patients in a less acute phase of theiradmission at Dewsbury & District Hospital.
Successful applicants will support the Cardiology specialtyteam in the management of their in-patient & outpatient workload and willparticipate in the General Medicine Trust-wide out-of-hours cover across bothhospital sites.
OurCardiology team is made up of a wide range of enthusiastic and passionateindividuals including 15 consultants, 2 Specialty Doctors, 4 SpecialtyRegistrars and 3 core trainees and 3 Foundation trainees. We have invaluablesupport from a team of specialist nurses based both in our trust and in thecommunity.
Ourvision is to deliver patient centered, accessible and integrated services, asseamlessly as possible with primary care. With 11 Coronary Care and 26Cardiology beds, new diagnostic facilities, and access to a full range ofnon-invasive and invasive cardiac facilities our team has access to exceptional,modern facilities as well as general imaging, including TTE and TOE, CTCA, CMRI(including stress MR) and Interventional radiology services.
Main duties of the jobThe main duties of the post will include:
Provisionof care with responsibility for the management of patients with acute andchronic conditions including complex cases.
Referralof patients to other specialities as appropriate
Involvementin specialty and cross-specialty multi-disciplinary teams and meetings
Teachingand supervision of junior medical staff and other clinicians as appropriate
Activeinvolvement in audit and clinical governance including service improvementactivities

We have a fullyestablished bradycardia pacing, complex device, and PCI service (excluding PPCIprovided in the Tertiary Centre). We have an established Nurse-led heartfailure service with community integration.
The Service Role
From a clinical perspective these posts willparticipate in the cross site senior trainee rota. The senior trainee rota is compliant with the2016 junior doctor contract averaging 48 hours per week. The illustrative rota pattern is attached tothis job description.
Duties will be based primarily on our PinderfieldsHospital site although all our medical staff are involved in delivering care topatients on all our sites.

Person Specification Experience- Have evidence of achievement of foundation competences from a UKFPO-affiliated foundation programme or equivalent, by time of application in line with GMC standards - Good Medical Practice
- Have evidence of achievement of Internal Medicine Stage 1 capabilities, via one of the following methods:
- Current employment in a programme which leads to successful completion of Internal Medicine Stage 1 Training, via one of these approved routes:
- UK Internal Medicine Stage 1 Training
- UK ACCS (Internal Medicine)viii
- UK Broad Based Training (medicine route)
- A standalone UK IMY3 programme (following completion of UK core medical training/ACCS (acute medicine
- JRCPTB internationally level 3 accredited equivalent Internal Medicine Stage 1 Training programme
- Successful completion of one of the programmes listed above, evidenced by ARCP
- Completion of UK ST3 in General Internal Medicine and satisfactory progress for any subsequent GIM training, evidenced by ARCP
- Evidence of achievement of Internal Medicine Stage 1 capabilities at time of application. Acceptable evidence is only permitted via the Alternative Certificate to Enter Group 1 Higher Physician Specialty Training
- Have sufficient experience working in medical specialties (not including foundation level experience). This can be via either:
- Training completed in:
- UK Internal Medicine Stage 1 Training
- UK ACCS (Internal Medicine)
- UK Broad Based Training (medicine route)
- A standalone UK IMY3 programme (following completion of UK core medical training/ACCS (acute medicine
- JRCPTB internationally level 3 accredited equivalent Internal Medicine Stage 1 Training programme or
- Have at least 36 months experience in medical specialties (of which at least 18 months must include the care of acute medical in-patients). Experience in certain acute care common stem specialties can be counted towards the 36 months in some circumstances
- Relevant experience from other specialties
- Experience of teaching clinical skills
- Clinical research and development
- Demonstrates intelligent and analytical approach to problem solving.
- Good time management.
- Possess good organisational skills.

- Currently holds full GMC Registration with licence to practise OR is eligible for the same and obtained this prior to commencement
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Either of the following:
- MRCP(UK) Part 1 at time of application and MRCP(UK) full diploma by the published deadline
- Eligibility for the specialist register in general internal medicine by time of application
- Completion of Irish Basic Specialty Training in medicine and the MRCPI full diploma by time of application
- ATLS,ALS,APLS or PALS certification
- Progress towards or attainment of Royal College Exams
- Higher qualification e.g. MFARM, MRCP, MRCPG, MRCS, FRCA or equivalent
