We have an amazing opportunity for a Night Managers to join our fantastic team at The Coat and Bear in Newbury, RG14 5EU - Opening October 2024

This Pub with Rooms will open in Newbury town centre in a newly developed double-fronted building with high ceilings a private courtyard and island bar. The Inn will offer 40 Bar and 116 Dining covers with an enclosed front terrace and 26 beautiful rooms.

Role Overview and Responsibilities

The Night Manager is responsible for the safety of our guests who engage in overnight accommodation, the smooth running of operations, and ensuring health and safety standards and a high degree of guest care are delivered through the night. Overall responsibility and accountability for the safe, consistent and compliant operation of the site outside of key trading hours.

  • Undertake late guest check-in and early guest check-out, forward reservation checks, and room allocations/ upgrades in the property management system (PMS) and ensure special requests and room setup are communicated to Management Teams and Housekeeping Team.
  • Conduct night auditing procedures such as routine fire, health and safety, security, walkarounds and compliance checks, reporting any issues or discrepancies to the opening Duty Manager.
  • Ensure the breakfast service pre-shift checks and duties have been completed before and provide effective shift handover.
  • Complete cleaning duties and rotas throughout, manning the cleanliness and standards across the property
  • Evacuate the property in the event of a fire alarm activation and follow company procedure to manage the event until support arrives on site.
  • Work with the Management Team to ensure that the property is safe and operating within the legal within Fire, Health and Safety, Licensing laws, Environmental Health and Employment law

Night Manager - The Ideal Candidate:

  • A genuine passion for the hospitality industry, with experience in hospitality management, and a hands-on approach
  • An ability to balance health, safety and security requirements with service and standards delivery and guest expectations
  • Strong interpersonal skills for diplomatically handling staff and customers, people-focused
  • Structured and organised with strong planning skills, and problem-solving ability, to resolve issues as they arise
  • To be fully conversant with property fire management procedures
  • A trustworthy individual and a versatile all-rounder, able to effectively manage their time between administration tasks and having a visible presence in the operation
