Do you want to play a supporting role in helping children in Hampshire?
The role of the Occupational Therapist (OT) within the Education and Inclusion (E&I) Therapy Service is expanding. This involves working within a complex needs multi-agency team, which includes Speech and Language Therapists, to support students in their education journey, specifically around their sensory and physical needs. To support the student through their education journey, the OT will assess needs and report upon interventions to ensure they can access all aspects of their day with as much independence as possible. This includes establishing students' sensory difficulties and differences and advising on specific strategies and interventions linked to their assessed sensory needs. The E&I Therapy Service work closely with SEN who will commission work of the OT for specific assessments and intervention blocks.
To be an ideal candidate for the role, you will have experience in working with children with sensory difficulties and differences, with a sound knowledge in working with students with additional needs. You will have the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, being able to communicate effectively with colleagues, educational settings and other professionals. You will understand the need for flexibility and the importance of confidentiality.
Known for your expertise, you'll work sensitively to establish the students' needs and requirements. You'll demonstrate your ability to make sound judgments based on assessment, evaluation of evidence and information, and the ability and flexibility to translate such judgments into effective and realistic action.
Working within the E&I Therapy Service, you will cover an extensive area of Hampshire, therefore please note you must be able to meet the travel requirements of the role. Generally, this means that you will require a full driving licence and access to a car, but reasonable adjustments to this requirement will be considered to cater for a declared disability.
