Band: F (Salary Range: Up to £107,500 dependent on skills, experience and internal benchmarking)

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: Flexible/ Hybrid

Job Introduction

BBC Product Engineering & Data Function is looking to appoint a Portfolio Partner to work closely with our Director, Product Engineering & Data and their leadership team. This role will have the unique experience of working alongside a dynamic Engineering Leadership group at the heart of the function driving our digital transformation.

Role Responsibility

This role includes driving cross-functional initiatives around transformational change, communication and events, culture and coordination as the group scales.

Your key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  1. Directly supporting the work of the Director, Product Engineering & Data in areas such as collaboration, culture, communication and executive meetings.
  2. Ensuring good disciplines around resource planning, recruitment and the location strategy.
  3. Leading projects on behalf of the Director, Product Engineering & Data representing his position and ensuring deadlines and actions are hit and changes implemented.
  4. Acting as a liaison between the Director, Product Engineering & Data and the broader functions within and outside Product Group including HR, Finance, Product Ops, Product Management and Design, as well as the CTO function.
  5. Taking the lead on Cultural activities for the group from meetups and developer days to hackathons and workshops.
  6. Building strong relationships with other functions within the Product Group including the Product Leadership team, Transformation team and UX leaders.
  7. Where necessary gathering and presenting departmental reports, compiling and distributing as necessary.
  8. Ensuring the Product Engineering & Data leadership teams are providing updates/ reports in a timely fashion.
  9. Actively involved in projects and initiatives that improve the function productivity and efficiency, Ways of Working and performance management.
  10. Acting as liaison into Finance in respect of group budgets and the finance processes.

Are You the Right Candidate?

The ideal candidate will evidence the following skills and experience:

  1. Experience of working closely with or within the software development environment with a strong understanding of the product engineering lifecycle and more broadly Product development lifecycle, especially Agile methodologies.
  2. Program/Project management experience, able to demonstrate the ability to manage complex project outcomes as well as strong reporting.
  3. Sophisticated stakeholder relationship management experience at a variety of levels including at a senior level. Demonstrates strong leadership experience within the sphere of matrix relationships and delivery and programme/ project management.
  4. Strongly demonstrated strategic planning and problem-solving skills.
  5. Ability to organise, manage and direct large teams in multiple departments.
  6. Ability to analyse and compile a large amount of data and come up with conclusive results.
  7. Ability to motivate and co-ordinate multi-disciplinary project teams.
