The roleT

he Process Engineer (Simulation) is responsible for realizing process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing internal processes by integrating smart technologies and data analytics. This role focuses on early concept design, engineering, and production technology for naval ship design and construction. The emphasis is on the integration of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) real-time operational simulations in the early design process of novel naval capabilities. This includes the development of toolchains and processes and applying these in current development initiatives.

Key accountabilities

  • Helps implement advanced technologies such as IoT, AI, robotics, and digital twins to enhance ship design, construction, and manufacturing processes.
  • Participate in research and development projects and realizes prototypes and/or pilot projects on developing innovative methods and technologies for the naval design process. Emphasizing the integration of smart technologies and data analytics.
  • Adheres to and implements the designs made by the Process Architect.
  • Applying (model based) systems engineering principles for comprehensive solutions.
  • Create immersive and interactive simulation environments to analyze and predict system and component behavior.
  • Stay updated on emerging process innovation technologies and trends and assesses their potential impact on naval products and operations.
  • Helps the Process Architect with identifying and scoping novel technologies and assessing their potential benefits.
  • Engage in effective communication with stakeholders, including architects, engineers, and clients, to align design innovations with project goals.
  • Collaborate with internal and external technical domain specialists across departments to promote knowledge sharing and cross-functional innovation.

Skills & experience

  • Bachelor's degree (EQF6) in Maritime Technology or another relevant study with at least 3-5 years relevant experience or master degree (EQF7) with at least one year of relevant experience.
  • Experience in the naval engineering domains with research, development, and innovation.
  • Basic understanding of software development processes
  • Basic understanding of programming languages and design principles for custom tools and prototyping
  • Familiar with system engineering philosophy and its applications in shipbuilding.
  • Knowledge of or experience with simulation-based design, simulation based acquisition.
  • Excellent references antecedents as a pre-employment security screening is standard part of the recruitment procedure.
