The ÄKTA & chromatography specialist for Cytiva is responsible for growing the lab chromatography and ÄKTA business, developing and managing your territory sales funnel and supporting chromatography customers by delivering training and application support.
This position reports to the ÄKTA sales manager and is part of the UK and Ireland protein research commercial team working remotely to cover the London and South East region of the UK. At Cytiva, our vision is, to advance future therapeutics from discovery to delivery.
What you will do:
Working with Cytiva's range of lab-scale ÄKTA chromatography systems and lab chromatography columns/resins, you will offer your expertise to customers in London and South East UK. The majority of your time will be spent with leading academic and industrial customers in London.
You will be part of a close team of chromatography specialists and use your commercial and technical skills to support customers and generate business. Your daily work will be varied, including planning customer visits, conducting activities to generate new sales leads, managing customer projects (working with customer service, field-service engineers and logistics companies), running product demonstrations, running training workshops, answering customer questions, delivering seminars and webinars, and attending promotional events.
You will manage sales leads and prospects using Salesforce Lightning CRM database and analyse sales data to aid decision making. With support from your manager, you will be empowered to manage your territory, set priorities, and create a business plan.
You will work to understand your customer's needs and build strong, long-term business partnerships.

Who you are:
You should have a strong life science background and be experienced in protein chromatography. University level degree in a Life Science related discipline is essential. PhD or equivalent experience is highly desirable.
A strong understanding of protein chromatography is essential. A minimum of 3 years hands-on experience with ÄKTA systems and chromatography columns/resins is essential. Experience with ÄKTA pure, ÄKTA go and/or ÄKTA avant is highly desirable.
You should have experience optimising and troubleshooting purification work using ÄKTA systems. Experience editing purification methods using UNICORN software is highly desirable.
No previous commercial experience is required since full training will be provided.
You should have experience presenting work at seminars, conferences or similar events that require public speaking.
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
80% travel (typically 3-4 days travel per week). The majority of time travelling will be within the sales territory. Travel outside of the territory is expected for meetings that include the regional team or to visit Cytiva show sites and training facilities (UK, Sweden and Germany). This travel frequency is quarterly on average.
Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Writing or contributing to the submission of grant applications or capital expenditure (CapEx) funding requests.
Ordering capital equipment, in particular having an understanding of the public tendering process.
Experience organising or contributing to the running of exhibitions or events.
