About the role

This role will be involved and contribute to all aspects of developing solar farm projects as well as other energy infrastructure development such as grid connections or BESS projects. This will involve supporting the origination of opportunities, landowner negotiations, environmental and planning work, stakeholder management and the management of development projects through the planning system.

As the projects progress to the procurement phase there will be management of and interface with our appointed Owners Engineer to ensure Employers Requirements are suitably comprehensive. It is likely that these projects will be project financed before or early in the construction phase and this role will also be required to support that process.

We are looking for an independent self-starter with a clear ability to manage a complex workload, often providing support to processes managed by colleagues, while prioritizing tasks and effectively managing competing deadlines. The role will report to the Senior Project Manager for Solar Development within the Energia Renewables team.

Your key responsibilities and accountabilities

Day-to-day, here's what your new role would look like:

• Manage several projects in a portfolio at different stages through the project life cycle from early-stage development support up to construction commencement.

• Responsible for project managing the delivery of planning applications and consents, energy yield assessments, input to land agreements, and pre-construction activities including site investigations, archaeological works and related stakeholder engagement permit applications.

• Coordination of project team including colleagues, external consultants, contractors and service providers.

• Effective external stakeholder management including landowners, utilities, local authorities and other public bodies.

• Ensure continuous planning and follow up of risks, cost, time and quality and reporting on projects status to Energia Management.

• Manage projects in adherence with Energia's Project Management Framework.

• Ensure planning permission compliance tasks pre-construction are carried out in line with project schedule.

• Support the community engagement process across the portfolio, attending events in the community as they arise.

• Implementation of Health, Safety and Environmental requirements for a project and ensuring HSE compliance.

• Ensure internal communication, co-operation and co-ordination amongst each project team.

• Ensure efficient and regular project meetings and recording of minutes and agreed actions. This includes (but is not limited to) general internal project reporting, tracking of project spend and progress, tracking of project payments and variations and various project management documentation compilation and maintenance.

• Manage tendering processes in conjunction with Energia's Procurement and Contracts team including commercial negotiation with stakeholders and project counterparties.

• Support the wider Renewables team in acquisitions, regulatory lobbying, business planning and strategic goals.

• The job requires a considerable degree of commitment, flexibility and adaptability on the part of the job holder to meet quality standards and work deadlines. The individual must have a forward-thinking solution focused approach and be able to work independently.

Our key criteria

These are the qualifications, experience, skills, or knowledge you must have:

• University degree in a relevant engineering discipline.

• Minimum 3 years work experience in a similar field of managing energy development projects.

• Demonstrable experience of having full responsibility for management of project budgets and schedules, from early-stage development to construction.

• Strong communication, relationship building and good management skills including organisational ability and a goal-oriented mindset and demonstrable ability to prioritise.

• Full drivers licence and access to own vehicle.

Our desirable criteria

These help decide between talent who meet all the essential criteria:

• 5 years' work experience in a similar field of managing renewable energy development projects.

• Experience in the design, permitting, procurement or construction of utility stage solar.

• Familiarity with design and construction of HV grid connection projects.

• Familiarity with property agreements.

• Experience of drafting and / or executing construction contracts (ideally FIDIC).

• Excellent application of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project (or equivalent), AutoCAD (working knowledge), SharePoint and other applications.
