Job Title: Associate Director, R&D Tax
Salary: Up to £75k + bonus

About the Team:
Our R&D Tax Advisory Team is a core function within CBTax, responsible for helping innovative businesses claim tax relief for research and development activities. The team collaborates with clients across various sectors, including technology, engineering, life sciences, manufacturing, Tech, agriculture and more ensuring that their claims are technically robust, compliant with HMRC regulations, and maximised for value.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for a highly experienced tax professional to take on a leadership role in shaping the future of our R&D tax advisory services.

About the Role:
As an R&D Tax Associate Director, you will play a strategic leadership role in driving the growth of our R&D tax function. You will be responsible for leading client engagements, overseeing complex R&D tax relief claims, managing a team of consultants, and driving business development initiatives.

This is an opportunity for a senior tax professional with a deep understanding of R&D tax incentives and corporate tax compliance, who is ready to take on a high-impact leadership position.

In this Role, You'll:

• Lead the R&D tax team, providing strategic direction and oversight of client engagements.
• Manage a portfolio of high-value R&D tax relief claims, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and maximum financial benefit.
• Advise clients on complex R&D tax matters, helping them navigate legislation and optimise claims.
• Develop and mentor a team of tax consultants, fostering professional growth and best practices.
• Liaise with HMRC on technical enquiries and compliance matters related to R&D tax relief.
• Drive business development initiatives, identifying opportunities to expand the firm's R&D tax services.
• Collaborate with the wider tax, finance, and advisory teams to ensure seamless service delivery.

We're Seeking Someone with Experience Including:

• Significant experience in R&D tax relief advisory, managing complex claims.
• In-depth knowledge of UK tax legislation related to R&D incentives.
• Strong leadership experience, with the ability to manage and develop high-performing teams.
• Proven ability to advise clients on tax compliance and optimise claims.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience in business development and expanding tax advisory services.

Nice to haves:

• Professional tax qualifications (e.g., CTA, ACA, ACCA, ATT) or equivalent experience.
• Experience in HMRC tax investigations and complex dispute resolution.
• Background in engineering, technology, or scientific industries is an advantage.
• Familiarity with corporate tax compliance and broader tax planning strategies.
