Job Description

On behalf of DSIT we are looking for a Risk Data Modeler (Inside IR35) for a 3 month contract. Remote working.

The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) brings together the relevant parts of the former Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and the former Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).

We are looking for a Data Modeler to come in to the cyber team and refine and improve our modelling of cyber risk in the UK economy. The modelling currently looks at businesses and will then be expanded across the wider economy to include individuals and government.

As a Risk Data Modeler your main responsibilities will be to:

. Devise methods and procedures for obtaining data in relation to budgets and the economy and the development of an economic framework.
. Understand various sampling techniques that may be used to conduct different types of surveys.
. Create and use various econometric modelling techniques to develop forecasts and understand and interpret data gained from models and other research sources.
. Analyse data to test the effectiveness of current policies, products or services and advise on the suitability of alternative courses of action, allocation of scarce resources, providing sound evidence to support these decisions.
. Explain research methodology and justify conclusions drawn from research data.
. Provide economic advice to a range of stakeholders and evaluating past/present economic issues and trends.

Essential:

. Good knowledge and ability to code in R.
. Demonstratable experience of working with Data and Data Modelling.
. An understanding of quality assurance.
. Knowledge and experience in Monte Carlo analysis.
. Technical drafting skills to be able to record changes to modelling.

Desirable:

. Python experience.
. Public Sector experience.
. Experience of working within a Cyber Security environment.
. Experience of working with policy to design outputs from modelling.
