We are seeking a newly qualified GP (within the last two years, without a substantive post)to join our team. Moseley Avenue Surgery are looking for an enthusiastic, forward-thinkingGP to join our team on a fixed-term salaried contract until 31 March 2025. The role is for amaximum of 2 days (4 sessions) per week. The role is funded via the NHS Additional RolesReimbursement Scheme (ARRS) through Coventry North PCN
Main duties of the jobMain Duties:
To undertake duties governed by the contract and Direct and Local EnhancedServices including:
Face to face and telephone consultations
Patient Home visits and Nursing Home visits
Checking and signing repeat prescriptions
Administration - dealing with queries, patient test results, referral lettersNHS or private, task, emails and other paperwork and correspondence in a timelymanner
Cover all the clinical management of the patients in surgery as appropriate includinginitiating investigations, reviewing results, making referrals to secondary care or toother providers as appropriate
Develop care and treatment plans in consultation with patients and in line withcurrent Practice disease management protocols as well as wider guidance such asthat from NICE.
About usMoseley Avenue Surgery is based in Coundon, Coventry.As a practice we take great pride in having served Coundon and surrounding area's for over 80year's caring for our patient population of over 12,000. We are a teaching practice for Doctors and medical students in placement.
Job responsibilitiesJob Description
To undertake surgery consultations, home visits where necessary, and telephonequeries from patients and health care professionals.
Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems,whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within theorganisation
To undertake on-call duties as part of the Surgery on-call rota, where agreed. Thismay include requesting that patients present at the surgery, telephoneconsultations, home visits and triage.
Work with patients in order to support compliance with and adherence to prescribedtreatments. Provide information and advice on prescribed or over-the-countermedication on medication regimens, side-effects, and interactions
Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient incomplex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergencycare
Assess, identify, and refer patients presenting with mental health needs inaccordance with national and local guidelines.
Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosedproblems
Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
Other Responsibilities:
Awareness of and compliance with all relevant Surgery policies and guidelines, e.g.prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety.
To undertake any other duties commensurate with the post holders grade as agreed
To attend and contribute to regular administration and clinical meetings whetherformal or informal. This may involve adjustments to workload to allow attendance.
To keep up to date with current and forthcoming National Service Frameworks andNICE guidance and their impact on primary care services
To contribute to the clinical governance agenda of the Surgery and to fullyparticipate in the reporting of incidents as per Practice policyA commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice
Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation
Contributing to the summarising of patient records and Read-Coding patient data,contributing to the maximum Surgery performance under QOF.
Attending training and events organised by the Surgery or other agencies, whereappropriate.
Person Specification Qualifications- MBBS or equivalent medical degree
- Full registration with GMC
- Certification of Completion of Training (JCPTGP/PMETB)
- Inclusion on Performers List
- Evidence of a commitment to on-going personal & professional development
- Understanding of General Practice Services
- Understanding of Primary Care Networks and how they work
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both written and verbally
- Excellent organisational skills
- Able to work calmly under pressure
- Ability to work on own initiative
- IT skills (including word processing and database work)
