We are a friendly, well organised practice in thepretty market town of Newark. We lookafter nearly 14,000 patients with our multidisciplinary team which includesprescribing nurses, pharmacists and a paramedic. We are a training practice and as well asregistrars we host a wide range of other students including nurses andpharmacists. We also have a diverseadministrative team including GP Assistants who help manage GP workload.
Newark has good travel links and is easilyaccessible via road and rail.
We are looking for a GP who would currently like asalaried post but may be interested in partnership in the future. We encourage and support all our staffincluding Salaried GPs to develop their skills and expertise; if you have anarea you are interested in we would love to hear about it.
We offer 6 weeks annual leave and one week CPD pro rata and can offer flexibility on working days and start and finish times.

Main duties of the jobYou will work 6 to 8 sessions looking after a diverse cohort of patients and supported by the wider team of clinicians and administrators.
While you will need to be able to do home visits we have a proactive care home team and an acute home visiting service supporting this work.
The role will include being duty doctor and working extended hours on agreed evenings.
We encourage our GPs to develop their skills to enable them to provide additional services to our patients

Job responsibilitiesWe will develop a job plan with you as part of our discussions should we offer you the role. This will depend on the number of sessions you work and your skills and experience. Typically this will involve one duty day every 1-2 weeks, a mixture of 10 and 15 minute appointments and one evening working to 8pm every 2-3 weeks. You will be allocated specific administrative time and you may also have the opportunity to supervise trainee GPs and other clinical staff
Primary key responsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities of the Salaried GP. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
- The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
- The provision of services commensurate with the primary care contract
- Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
- Effective management of long-term conditions
- Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks
- On a rotational basis, undertake duty doctor roles
- Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance
- Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
- Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
- Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice
- Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF
- Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required
- Contribute effective to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training
- Ensure compliance with the appraisal process
- Prepare and complete the revalidation process
- Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team
- Support the training of students from all clinical disciplines
- Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure
- Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies
- Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvement
