Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for a 4-6 session GP to join our team in the Georgian market town of Farnham with good local schools and excellent transport links to London. The surgery is located within a modern purpose-built building with free parking. Within the Health Centre, we have GP meeting rooms, as well as the services of walk-in x-ray, ultrasound, and physiotherapy departments. 14 patients per session with a mixture of face-to-face and telephone calls. Farnham Integrated Care Service is used collaboratively for urgent on-the-day patients.

Main duties of the job

As a practice, we are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and committed GP to cover 4-6 clinical sessions which would include a weekly duty doctor triage session. The successful candidate would hold their own patient list (size-pro-rata for the number of clinical sessions). We offer a mentor for newly qualified GPs with weekly supervision. We use a clinical triage platform called Patchs, and specialist interests are encouraged within the practice.

The role will be within Farnham Park Health Group. The practice holds a UK Visa Sponsorship Licence. Farnham Park is an innovative, friendly, forward-thinking practice, working collaboratively within Farnham PCN and Farnham Integrated Care Services. The successful applicant will share our ethos and commitment to delivering the best possible care to our patients. We have 4 Partners, 6 Salaried GPs, 1 Paramedic Practitioner, Prescribing Clinical Pharmacist, pharmacy technician, an excellent multi-skilled practice nurse team, and a team of 4 care coordinators. List size 17,000. EMIS Web, AccuRx & Docman with Workflow Optimisation. We are part of Farnham Integrated Care Services working in collaboration with local practices offering same-day access for urgent care along with MSK Practitioners and Home Visiting Services. X-ray, ultrasound, and phlebotomy services are available within Farnham Centre for Health. We are also a Training Practice. CQC rated 'good' in November 2019. 6 weeks annual leave plus one week study leave pro-rata, competitive remuneration package.

Job responsibilities

SALARIED GP FARNHAM PARK HEALTH GROUP

Sessions are made up of 14 appointments with 8 x 15-minute face-to-face appointments and 6 x 10-minute telephone appointments.

A daily huddle is held each day at 9 am, and we hold a clinical meeting for an hour each week.

GP home visits are carried out as required for care home and palliative patients, and we also have a Home Visiting Paramedic Team.

Additional Duties include:

  • General admin including referrals, correspondence, lab results, prescriptions, and document processing.
  • One duty doctor session per week, dealing with on-the-day requests, queries, and emergencies, and working with our care coordinators and triage team.
  • Attendance at daily huddles and weekly clinical meetings.
  • Contract / QOF / audit work as and when required.
  • Insurance reports and other non-GMS work for patients as required.
  • Participate in our Same Day Service rota, as well as Extended Hours as required.
  • Ensure Mandatory training is kept up to date.
Person Specification Experience
  • Recent experience of working in general practice in the UK.
  • Fully qualified GP with GMC registration.
  • Be on the medical performers list.
  • Commitment to and experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary and skill mixed team environment.
  • Experience of working to achieve standards within the Quality and Outcome Framework (QOF).
  • Annual appraisal and revalidation, when appropriate.
  • Evidence of independent working in General Practice.
  • Experience of supporting service change.
  • Evidence of participation in QOF.
  • Evidence of participation in Audit.
  • Additional qualifications in a specialist area or training and teaching, clinical diplomas.
Qualifications/training
  • A medical practitioner whose name is included in the Qualified General Practitioner (completed certificate of Completion of Training) (CCT).
  • DBS clearance.
  • Evidence of further postgraduate educational activities in relevant fields.
  • Evidence of CPD activities.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Knowledge of NHS.
  • Have an understanding of the needs of the vulnerable groups of patients that are registered.
  • Understand the health and social needs of a local practice patient population.
  • Commitment to personal and professional development.
