Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly team of dedicated professionals to deliver high quality, patient centred care to our patients.

We aim to provide the best working environment, involving our staff to choose the best way of providing care to patients - flexible appointment length; face to face or remote appointment types. We are also happy to be flexible around routine start and finish times. The number of sessions and days worked are also flexible and negotiable.

In the past, our innovative team have held patient education events, supported the opening of dementia cafe, attended the local school to teach children. We work as a team, and with our PPG to identify ways to improve services for patients of the Practice. The successful applicant will be integral in helping us to identify and further improve services for our patients.

Main duties of the job

You will work in a supportive, friendly environment with our integrated team of Doctors, ANP's, Clinical Pharmacist, Paramedic, Social Prescriber, Care Co-ordinator, Mental Health Nurse, Specialist Diabetes Nurse and Nursing team.

The whole team works together to provide an innovative and caring service where patients are truly at the heart of everything we do.

About us

Abbeyview Surgery is a semi-rural, part dispensing Practice serving circa 9100 patients in Crowland, Lincolnshire. We are CQC Outstanding and our team have won several awards for patient care locally and nationally.

To complement our team of Doctors, ACPs, Nurses and HCAs, our rapidly expanding team includes Diabetes Specialist Nurse, Physio, MSK, Clinical Pharmacists, Care Co-ordinator and Social Prescriber.

We have a strong team ethos where all departments work collaboratively to provide the best patient centred care possible.

The Practice has won national and local awards for providing excellent patient care. These include the Carers Quality Award, MacMillan Award for Excellence in Cancer Care, General Practice of the Year and Collaborative working with patients and other providers Award.

Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the salaried GP. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

  1. The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
  2. The provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract
  3. Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
  4. Effective management of long-term conditions
  5. Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests, results, document workflow and reports and other associated administrative tasks
  6. On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles
  7. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance
  8. Working collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
  9. To cover colleagues results, prescriptions and other admin duties when they are on annual leave
  10. Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
  11. Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice
  12. Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) of the QOF
  13. Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required
  14. Contribute effectively to the development and maintenance of the practice including; clinical governance, training, financial management and HR
  15. Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, promoting a culture of continuous improvement at all times
Person Specification Qualifications
  • Qualified GP
  • General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT)
  • Full GMC Registration
  • National Performers List registration
  • Appropriate defence indemnity (MPS/MDU)
  • Eligibility to practice in the UK independently
