The Chesser Surgery is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated GP, who is committed to providing high quality care, to join our friendly and supportive team.
Working collaboratively to meet the needs of our 7,000 patients, we are looking to recruit a Salaried GP for 2-4 sessions, days to be agreed.

Main duties of the jobThe post-holder will undertake a variety of duties, including:
- Conducting in-person and telephone consultations, managing patient queries, and performing home visits as required.
- Reviewing and signing repeat prescriptions and addressing associated queries, paperwork, reports, and correspondence in a timely manner.
- Making autonomous, professional decisions regarding presenting issues, whether self-referred or referred by other healthcare professionals.
- Assessing patients with undiagnosed or undifferentiated health concerns.
- Screening for risk factors and early signs of disease.
- Collaborating with patients to develop care plans in line with the Practice's disease management protocols.
- Providing health education and counselling services.
- Managing patient admissions and discharges from caseloads and making appropriate referrals to other healthcare providers.
- Maintaining accurate, contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
- Collecting data for audits and ensuring compliance with QOF (Quality and Outcomes Framework) requirements.
- Prescribing in alignment with the Practice formulary or generically, as clinically appropriate.
The post-holder will be expected to perform all standard duties associated with a General Practitioner working in primary care.
About usWe work collaboratively with our PCN colleagues, the local ICB and other neighboring practices. Our experienced team consists of 2 GP Partners, a Salaried GP, 1 Nurse, 1 HCA, a Clinical Pharmacist, PCN Physiotherapists as well as being supported by committed management, reception, and administrative teams.
We adopt a team approach to patient care and endeavor to monitor the service provided to patients, to ensure that it meets current standards of excellence.
Job responsibilitiesPrimary Responsibilities
As a Salaried GP, you will work closely with the GP Partners to deliver high-quality care, treatment, and advice to both registered and temporary patients. This role offers the opportunity to take a lead in a specific disease area and contribute to the development of services tailored to our patient population.
In this role, you will fulfill the standard duties of an NHS General Practitioner in accordance with the expectations set by the GMC and RCGP, adhering to relevant national and local guidelines.
Our clinical sessions are structured into 3-hour blocks, incorporating a mix of face-to-face, telephone, and triaged consultations. Additional time is allocated to accommodate administrative tasks. To support this, our administrative team assists with managing clinical documents, results, and referrals.
Other Responsibilities Within the Organisation:
- Ensuring awareness of and compliance with relevant Practice policies and guidelines, including prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, and health and safety.
- Demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional development and audit to maintain evidence-based best practice.
- Contributing to clinical audits, standard-setting, and the development of computer-based patient records.
- Assisting with the summarisation and Read-Coding of patient data.
- Participating in training sessions and events organised by the Practice or external agencies, as appropriate.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both written and verbally.
- Good organisational skills.
- Effective time management skills (planning and organising).
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team.
- Strong IT skills and competent in the use of Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Knowledge of EMIS clinical system.
- Ability to follow clinical policy and procedure.
- Able to work under pressure.
- Experience of working in a primary care environment.
- Experience of continued professional development/areas of clinical expertise.
- Experience of QOF, clinical audit and improving care for patients.
- General understanding of the primary care contract.
- Knowledge of the demographic characteristics that affect health and health care in the area.
- Understanding the role of medical services in a wider public health agenda.
- Understanding current NHS policies.
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
- Full registration with GMC.
- Certification of Completion of Training.
- National Performers List registration.
- Evidence of current validation.
- Evidence of last appraisal.
- Eligibility to practice in the UK independently.
- Evidence of a commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
- Up to date CPR and anaphylaxis training.
- Ability to undertake basic minor surgery requirements.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
